So tired. So very tired. Brain numb.

John and Julie are GONE, back to london, woe. We finished off with a great weekend tho - good way to round off a great week ;) In fact its been such a succession of great weekends I think I may be broken.

I am going to go to bed shortly and sleep til Monday ;p
When I wake up I'll upload photos of Scenery, rock art and stuff. And do a proper update

There would be more - young keanu reeves maybe, and rutger hauer, but those were the first five to come to mind.

What I did on my Holidays, pt2

So, where were we?
Thursday night, Julie and I got happily drunk while John fiddled with all the new Bits for the pc and made it all shiny and fast. Also, I finally got Julie to watch some Firefly which she ENJOYED. hah!
We just about managed an early (ish) night in anticipation of the early start friday.

Friday morning we first took an exciting run down the Falls to take more mural pics, which included me nearly running over the happy drunk man who stepped right out in front of the car clutching his bottle of cider (at 10am), waved cheerfully at me and staggered on his way. We drove up and down a bit taking snaps then exited without crossing the peace line as Julie had hoped (because I am not INSANE).

Back home we got all packed up and set off for Dublin, yay! Met up with Tique and Loutre at the McNewgrange centre and off we went. I haven't been to Knowth for years and it was interesting to see how they've done it - not as obviously Tarted Up as Newgrange, but still a bit too Neat and Tidy. Also, an hour is nowhere NEAR enough time to spend there. I could have spent an hour just looking round the decorated stones. Didn't get anywhere near the satellite tombs or the souterrains, or other Interesting Bits.
The view from the top was stunning tho!
After that it was Newgrange again. Despite the Prettification and the dubious frontage, its hard not to be impressed, particularly by the interior and the sheer scale of the thing.

When we were done admiring Ancient Art and building, we followed [livejournal.com profile] tiquetoque back to his place for tea, geek talk and waiting for the traffic into Dublin to subside. Finally got to Sarah's about 9ish, which was just in time for a very lovely dinner out in their garden, plus lots of alcohol. We even got rained on slightly over dessert, but that wasn't going to stop us!
When we eventually headed inside, drinking continued and led to singing (sorry about that ;p), rambling and cackling. Much fun!

Sat. morning was not so good ;p But we eventually dragged ourselves up and into town for food and buying of Tourist Tack, then made our way out to the airport which took much longer than expected. We did make it in time tho (I think, haven't heard otherwise!). Said our Farewells (woe) and off went J & J, back to london.

It was wonderful having you guys, come back SOON!

The rest of my day seems to have been spent driving dazedly back and forth thro dublin to visit various people to drink tea and get home in easy stages. It went something like - Rathgar - city centre - airport - swords - rathgar - leeson st (the long way round cos I missed a turn) - swords - belfast. Eventually got home around midnight and collapsed.

Today I will mostly be lazing. Taking tomorrow off work too, to do much of the same.

Oh, photos are at http://eatin.fotopic.net/c627349.html Mostly of Scenery and the Rock art at knowth
