After all of last weeks rabid ranting, you will all be pleased to hear I had a damn good weekend.

Made it to the stables friday afternoon just before all the road blocking started and, since I had hours to play with, tidied zigs up a bit - gave her a real good groom, pulled her forelock, finally cut a bridal path in her mane and trimmed her tail. Didn't tackle pulling her mane cos I'm still worried I'll cock it up, but I might work on it next week a bit ;p

Rode in the arena for a bit cos there were low flying helicopters and lots of sirens going off, but as usual she was totally unfazed so after half an hour or so, we headed off to the field for some running and jumping fun; she's definitely getting fitter and her stamina is improving too. After we were done I stayed on to help Christine (since there was no point leaving til the roads were clear) and got to sit on her new horse, Teddy, who is just lovely. Odd sitting on a thin horse after the barrel that is ziggy, but he's a lovely mover and very responsive.

Friday night was spent on the sofa eating popcorn & watching Kung Fu Hustle, which is a damn good, if rather bizarre, film, then some Firely (the Message and Objects in Space) in preparation for the film TOMORROW NIGHT (OMG).

Saturday - lovely lie in, did some vague tidying then headed back to stables to meet Susannah, who was home from America for the weekend. Much fun was had running round the back field - Ziggy really enjoyed it cos she got to do the bigger jumps I haven't quite worked myself up to yet.
Dropped S back to her friend's house after, then called in to see Karen, Bruce and teh babies, who were all in great form. Hard to believe Aoife is nearly 2 months old already - she's a very alert wee thing, always looking round and smiling at everything; Shea is chattering away and charging about like a little blond bull. I have no idea how Karen manages them both at once, but she does!
After that, for a complete change of scenery, called in to see the wee brother in his new house which was a tad chaotic, with him, his housemates and their girlfriends all getting ready to go out. This seemed mostly to involve drinking lots of buckfast and vodka while ironing things, dancing on the sofa and chucking things at each other while shouting a lot.
Ahh, the heady days of youth ;p

Finally escaped back to the calm of my own house and collapsed on the sofa once more to watch crap on tv.

Sunday! (we're nearly there)
Slept in again (yay for lie-ins) then did some speed tidying and even got some washing done AND hung out. Go me! Then back to the stables to get zigs in and go out with Susannah again. This time we headed down the tow path to the Big Field at Barnetts. Ziggy was v. happy to get out and about and see somewhere different and loved charging up and down the hills. I was v. brave and jumped the little ditch on the way back, followed by a mad canter up the hill. Luckily there was no-one walking down it at the time ;p
When we got back to our field, she was still full of beans so we did some more jumping and even got a couple of gallops up the hill. Took lots of photos which I must get uploaded later, so you can all admire teh fat horsie some more. She is losing weight, it just doesn't look like it!
Then last night went for food and drinks with S & Christine, which was much fun, with susannah regaling us with tales of cowboys and rodeos. Definitely going to have to get out and visit her some time next year...

Riot & road block-wise, it seems to have beem quieter this weekend. It's pouring with rain today, so hopefully they just won't bother, particularly since I have to get home earlyish to get the horse done by 7.30 so I can go pick the mother up from the airport.

Also slightly worried if they keep going about getting to the Serenity showing tomorrow night, since it's over in East Belfast. Tho its not on til 8.30 so should be fine by them. They ain't gonna stop me gettin' there!
OMG TOMORROW NIGHT. V. excited!
