Nov. 29th, 2005 05:35 pmAck in all the NEW BOOTS/PINTS excitement I totally forgot jumping lessons are starting tonight, and we're *starting* at 70 (2'3").
Which might not sound like much, but when you're cantering up to it (or rather them, there's bound to be doubles) on a horse that prefers jumping at least 4ft and will occasionally do so anyway, it's a bit different.
It's about as high as I'm comfortable with. On a good day. If I keep my eyes shut. And that's the START height.
Rationally I know we won't have to do anything we really don't want to, but nerves are setting in already and inwardly I'm all FLAIL FLAIL PANIC ARRGH FLAIL.
I could DIE!
Better go get ready...
UPDATE! You'll be pleased to learn I didn't die. Didn't even come close! Turns out the 70 thing was to scare off a couple of the bratty kids so we could actually have a decent lesson. We had leetle jumps but had to be Controlled and stop in between, change pace and so on. Even did bounces at the end which was great!
Yay.
The idea of jumping terrifies me so much, but once I get started, I love it! God knows why, but it just adds to the fun ;)
Plus everyone like my new hat. Well, they were laughing, so I'm assuming it was a hit!
