You've no-one to blame but yourself!
Ten years ago, on a cold, dark night
Someone was killed beneath the town hall light
There were few at the scene
But they all agreed
That the slayer who ran
Looked a lot like me
She walks these hills in a Long Black Veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me
The judge said, "Son, what is your alibi?
If you were somewhere else,
Then you won't have to die."
Well, I said not a word
Though it meant my life
For I'd been in the arms
Of my best friend's wife
Oh, she walks these hills in a Long Black Veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me
Oh now, the scaffold was high
Eternity is near
She stood in the crowd
And shed not a tear
Oh, sometimes at night
When the cold winds blow
In a Long Black Veil
She cries over my bones
She walks these hills in a Long Black Veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me
(and I'm DEAD)
Good King Corpseleslass oozed out
Of his Christmas Coffin
Where the blood lay all about
With the bodies rotting
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel
When a pale Death came in sight
Gath’ring helpless souls
“Hither, death and stand by me
If thou know’st it, telling
Yonder people who are they
and what’s that nasty swelling?”
“Sire, they are but simple folk
trying to have fun
but I think we’ll change all that
once my work is done
“Bring me flesh and bring me bones
Bring me bodies hither
Thou and I will see them die
and watch their eyeballs wither.”
Death and monarch forth they went
Forth they went together
Through the poor folks’ wild lament
And the bitter weather
Yonder! Look what lies ahead
with the Corpses rotting
Tis a Plague pit filled with dread
and the victims crawling
‘Now’ said Death, ‘I summon you’
‘Come before me kneeling
This night, good king, you’ll surely rue
Hear the people screaaamingggg’
‘Good king, it’s you I’ve come to kill,
Bow your head before me’
Then Death set to with a will
and methods fierce and bloody.
Hearken well now, as I sing
The moral of my story
If you call yourself a king,
Prepare for death most gorrrrrrryyyyyyyy
