Heh, given that my social life mostly revolves around horses and t'internet (eg friday night was spent watching the film with people online), I wouldn't be too jealous!
Would your family understand if you didn't go? They can be horrible horrible things, but also, having your family about can help a lot. Could you go see them but skip the actual funeral bit?
