And how are we all on this rather damp Monday? Good weekends had?
I had a weekend of much socialising, starting with the fun of finally getting post-work pints on a Friday, which was *meant* to be 'just one or two' and ended up, not surprisingly, being 'several'. Fun tho ;)
Saturday began in very civilised fashion with Lunch with The Girls, which quite quickly turned into More Wine Please! There was a quick break for myself and
_unhurt_ when we were irresistably lured into a bookshop by big signs saying HALF PRICE SALE, despite E.'s plaintive cry from outside of 'But I want to drink cocktails!' - I found this, which made me all Gaiman fangirly, but not as fangirly as unhurt with her ordering obscure Canadian Scripts or similar :p
Then followed working our way through the cocktail menu in Madisons (which, for the record, isn't great at cocktails. Didn't stop us drinking them tho), until hunger struck again, so we trailed off to the nearest resturant to stuff our faces, drink More Wine Please! and, um, eat our handbags (partially documented in photos by
_unhurt_ here), for reasons which I really can't quite recall just now.
However I was very sensibly home by 10, where I not-so-sensibly tried mudding while watching The 13th Warrior and drinking cider, leading to all sorts of dying-related hijinks, followed by Crashy bat-loss fun in the terrains, all wrapped up in drunken multi-tell confusion from
littlebluefish and others. Good times ;)
Sunday was good tho. Lovely sunny day, surprising lack of drink-related agony, tho sleeping til lunchtime probably helped there. Went to check on Ziggy in her summer fields, where she is busy getting fat and lazy, then home to help in The Great Garage Clearance.
However it turns out the the Next-door Neighbour wants to buy Mum's house and has said he will clear the garage and anything else out, and that there's no hurry at all and she can take all the time she likes to move. Which is all great news and meant that instead of hauling box after box of crap out, we got to just hoke around and see what was in there, leading to me discovering a big box of all the Really Old 2000ADs which I thought had been thrown out years ago, yay!
Then we went and sat in the sun and it was good.
I was supposed to be going to see Davey play again last night, but as the hangover bizarrely gradually worsened throughout the day, I decided to give this a miss and just go home instead. Even had a (relatively) early night! Must be getting old...
This morning, still having Database Issues in work (ie they 'upgraded' me to win2003 when I was off last week, leading to the Access97 database my entire job revolves around no longer working), haven't even got any filing left to, hence the rather massive post of rambling massivness.
Am now going to go look up fancy spa-type hotels in London as I fancy a weekend away. Anyone for pints mid-June or so?

Date: 2006-05-08 03:39 am (UTC)hellison, do you remember speaking soflty (ahahahHA!) at the table in scalinis? something about PORN that, um, i don't think the other people near us really wanted to hear? *g*
hellison snorted out loud with laughter as i tried to explain to the nice man in no alibis what i was looking for. and he found it! the out of print, like gold-dust, amazon lie about it as they don't in fact have any copies hard core roadshow! (unless it doesn't ship, when i will cry) though, okay, it may be that i have rather less interest in the screenwriting process and rather more in the anecdotes about hugh and callum than might usually be the case. *is sad*
i was also hangover-free on sunday, but in my case remained that way all day. woo! and i cleaned the house. there was dusting. on the other hand, i did sit up till 2am with the cava i had forgotten was in the fridge last night, so a bit sleepy today.
