Ah the heady days of youth...

Took a spin down the country this evening to see the lovely JA and catch up, having been a Bad Friend and neglected her lately!

We had a lovely evening sitting in her back garden in the sun with the dogs, having tea and buns and gossiping. Also, I got presents - belated christmas and birthday (I have been Very Neglectful), which included the picture below, taken many many years ago, at an 'abba' themed birthday party, hence the rather 'flower child' look. Look how ladylike we were, sipping The Punch of Dooooom delicately through straws. From a saucepan.
From the looks of things, that was the 2nd batch, after we ran out of one of the vital ingredients (Diamond White) and had to replace it with Mad Dog 20/20.
Which was possibly NOT the best idea ever, but it seemed like the right thing to do at the time ;p

OMG look how YOUNG we look. It looks slightly wonky cos I don't have a scanner and had to take a photo of the photo. If you see what I mean.

Meh. Tell me about it ;-)

Me mam used to say 'you were such a cute child. I can't understand what went wrong...'

!

(mine is actually the opposite. when i was an awkward, unhappy, socially inept but top-of-the-class-geek teen she told me "looks are more important than brains for a girl". thanks, mum. that really helped with the psychological adjustment. not! now she thinks i look ok. if i would do this other thing with my hair and lower my standards i might even get a proper boyfriend!)

and lower my standards i might even get a proper boyfriend!)

Because, of course, it is the HAVING of the boyfriend that is of importance, whether or not the bf is actually *worth* having is entirely irrelevant... Obviously part of some secret Mother Code of Practice...
