It all began last night, with a nice hot bath. I began to feel hungy and decided post bath, I would get toast. During bath, I could hear the cat going a bit mad downstairs, but I figured she was just chasing a bit of fluff or something.

So I go for the toast and find the cat stalking a remarkably mouse shaped bit of fluff. With a tail. That moves. Being very very brave, I fled, shutting the living room door behind me so at least when she finally finished it off she couldn’t bring it upstairs. Well, I wasn’t going to chase her and leave a LIVE mouse running round the house was I?

So I wake up this morning and am very reluctant to get out of bed, due to knowing I’m going to have to locate and remove a dead mouse. Then I recall I have a meeting. So I LEAP into action, steel my nerves and run past the whining cat to give her breakfast before I go corpse hunting. While in the kitchen I hear an odd dripping sound. I go back to the living room and discover that the overflow on the bath which was supposed to have bee fixed is very obviously NOT fixed and I have had my own personal niagara falls going on all night.
Right onto the extension lead that holds the plugs for the tv, video, dvd & cable box.
Its also soaked the suitcase full of clothes I was planning to take to dublin tomorrow, but that’s a minor matter. Bending down to remove various dvds and the case from my indoor pond I notice and alarming fizzing coming from the plugs, and that the extension sockety thing is looking a tad melted.
So I dash over to the switches to turn it off at the wall, narrowly missing stepping on, yes, the dead mouse with its head half chewed off.

Fire and explosions averted, I grab the mop, move the water about a bit, stick a bowl under the still dripping ceiling, put some tea towels down then (very bravely) get the dustpan, lift the ex-mouse (thankfully its head is still jsut about attached) and fling it out the front door, then run off to get here for the meeting, which was supposed to be at 10.

Its now 11 and I’m still waiting for them to show up…

It doesn't help with the writing, the constant drip. Still, on the bright side, I can't turn the tv on so I might as well try and write more.

I'll be away all weekend so I'm trying to get well ahead of myself. According to various nano calender thingys, I'm about where I'd need to be on monday to be on track, so thats encouraging.

In other news. Well. Mostly I'm waiting for the plumber to come fix this and stop the water dripping down from my ceiling. Its unnerving and making me more than a little reluctant to be leaving for the weekend but, on the other hand, LEMMY.

At worst, I can always come back early sat. morning! Or something...
