Mar. 9th, 2005 11:00 amSo. The IRA appear to be spectacularly losing the plot over the whole McCartney thing. Backed into a corner and what do they do? Have a nice quiet chat with his family and offer to shoot the guys that killed him, to make it all better.
What was going through their heads?
"We're in shit because those lads murdered someone. How can we fix it? AHA! We'll murder the murderers, to let everyone see we can't have murderers in the IRA. That'll sort everything out and we'll be HEROES once again!".
Even Sinn Fein seem to be having a tough time explaining that one away.
Of course it may all die away after a while, as has happened so often before, but when they keep making it worse for themselves, without any outside help, there is still hope! I haven't read the whole statement yet, but it's fascinating watching them dig deeper and deeper holes every time they try and worm their way out of this.

Workwise, I seem to be safe (for now), boss lady is off for a couple of days and according to her assistant it all went ok. We shall see :p
