Mar. 21st, 2005 02:24 pmWeekend went well, party was great ;)
Nothing very exciting or noteworthy, no crazy antics, just a lot of sitting about chatting and telling some of the funniest stories I have heard in a long time, mostly about previous drunken antics of those present. Some of them are still making me chortle today (as memories filter back).
The brief phone-in gate crashing from
littlebluefish's wedding shower was another highlight, a very... enthusiastic rendition of 'happy birthday', thank you ladies :p
Yesterday wasn't too painful surprisingly, even managed to clear up and the discovery of large amounts of left-over alcohol was a nice bonus, despite being mostly beer (anyone fancy some Miller/Stella/Guinness? drop in :p). It'll come in handy on wed. when some of the people who couldn't make it sat. are coming round, tho they will no doubt bring more anyway :p
And of course I'm sure
kryptykfysh will help with getting rid of some more of the beer when he gets over ;)
Went to the Prof's cremation service thingy this morning, which was v. sad, tho somehow not just as depressing as the usual burial in the rain. It'll be odd not seeing him at the bar next time a conference comes around :/
Afterwards we went to get some lunch and came across the Irish News and a story about a letter that Ogra Sinn Fein (SF youth) wrote to the paper saying the McCartney's are using their brother's death as a 'political showcase', have turned it into a circus for their own benefit and how they should be thankful to the IRA for everything thing they've done to help and stop making them sound bad. Can't find a link to it yet that isn't subscription only. Tho it's probably just as well because it makes for fairly disgusting reading, made worse by the fact that this isn't from the 'old guard', but from the next generation.
So all in all, a damn good weekend, but a fairly depressing Monday so far.
