Just when you think riot season is over, half the city goes teh crazy. And several outlying towns.
Of course people in Bangor are going to be righteously OUTRAGED about a parade in a different town several miles away having to go a slightly different route, and there for are entirely justified in hijacking buses, robbing the passengers then setting fire to the bus!

Word around the office has been that things are starting up again at 3 or 4 and we've already sent home anybody that has to travel that way.

Ooh official comformation http://www.trafficwatchni.com/ of the start of it at least.

It is all the opposite direction from where I live, but the longer these things go on, the more spread out they get, cos no-one wants to be left out of a good riot...

So yeah, heading home, despite the fact I do actually have a ton of work piling up after being off most of last week. I may even have to come in EARLY tomorrow. The horror.

In other news, cold has snuck back so I feel shit and that stupid girl from last week who didn't show up sent a big email to me whining the maps were WRONG (well if you'd fucking showed up when you were supposed to we could have discussed that) then sent one to my boss claiming she'd never received them.
Strong Words were had this morning re stupid woman with boss and a fairly blunt email will be returned to her tomorrow. Still have to redo stupid fucking maps tho.

Anyways, I'm off home to watch the city burn from the safety of my living room, hurrah!

Well I was right about 'protests' spreading - they don't seem to have got as far as actual rioting, but some women did block one of the main routes out of Belfast by sitting in the road just up from here.

Tho the prize for Most Lame Protest goes to Derriaghy (about 5/10 mins from here) where a friend of mine lives; got a text from him earlier...
"Round here Ulster is currently being defended by a drunk bloke and some children led by the fat kid who collects the Avon orders for his mum". Yay for the Sons of Ulster.

Was almost worried about Paisley earlier when he actually did say there was no justification by the violence, but he immediately redeemed himself by blaming it all on a some sort of IRA conspiracy and that the poor deluded rioters played right into their hands.
I did have to agree with his point that Adams and co are currently sitting back laughing. Of course they are, they couldn't HOPE for better PR for themselves.

Seriously, rioting dudes? You just gave the IRA a fucking moral high ground!
Well slightly raised area, but still.

The most ironic thing so far is that there is currently a documentary on bbc about Drumcree and the Orange Order and what Decent, Upstanding, Law-Abiding folk they all are (and I'm sure some many of them actually are), which followed DIRECTLY after news reports showing Orangemen in sashes attacking policemen.

On the other hand, getting out of work early meant I was early at the stables (despite taking 45 mins to drive the mile there) and had a great time on Ziggy. First in the school where once she was actually moving (after some persuasion) she did perfect canter lead changes thro trot. Must try and learn flying changes this winter.
After that we went out to the field where we did a few jumps and cantered about lazily for a while. Then Laura joined us on Nero and next thing I know we're off up the hill at full gallop with Nero charging along behind us.
That was FUN. Unexpected, particularly the jump over the little dip in the ground, but damn good fun. Gonna do it again tomorrow!

ETA I never noticed til tonight just how much little David Ervine looks like Vicini (sp?) from the Princess Bride. He even loves to use big words and fancy language.
Had to love him tonight for his statement about how the state of the people was like a cauldron of... stuff (I should pay more attention) and now the cauldron had OVERFLOWN.
Mostly tho, I just want him to say somthing is inconceivable!
