Snowed In!
Dec. 15th, 2005 09:53 pmWell, not quite, but there is a lot of it! The poor brother is stuck in Charlotte, where he's been on a course, because they stopped all flights and he can't get home til tomorrow. At this rate I'll be lucky to see him at all before I go home!
After failing quite impressively to meet up with
kearsley last night (we were in the same place at the same time and *still* didn't manage it :/ Which sucks quite a lot, but we will just have to try a bit harder next time!), today had a more sucessful trip to Toronto.
Went up CN tower, tho visibility wasn't great the views are still very impressive. We weren't allowed outside tho, cos it was too windy! We did however VERY bravely make an attempt at the glass floor, which is a very freaky experience. I'm not scared of heights at all, but even just looking over that made me a little dizzy, and standing on it was just terrifying.
It's like a small part of your brain rationally going "look, its solid, you're FINE" while the rest of it is screaming "OMGOMGOMG GET OFF I'M GOING TO DIE". Oddly lying down on it is much easier, possibly cos the body is supported so the brain chills out.
Well, when I say much easier, it's just mild panic rather than out and out terror.
After that excitement, we went for a bit of a wander, did some shopping and had a v. nice child free lunch before heading back to the snowy wastes of Oakville. It is quite impressive (to one who hasn't seen that much snow before :p) just how much there was so quickly. And it's still going out there...
It is due to stop soon I think. Tho it could get quite interesting if it doesn't. I wonder how they work connecting flights if you have to miss one? Hmm being BMI I'd imagine they charge a fortune for a new booking. Now might be a good time to check if visa covers things like that booked through them.
PS STILL no mounties. Do they hibernate or something??
