A quick meme, while my brain recovers from teh shock of being back to work, proper posting will follow later...

Post the first line of the first entry for each month of 2006

Jan - Hope you all had a lovely new year's eve

Feb - Today Is Going to be Better.

March - OMG I WANT THIS TSHIRT [1]

April - For the Cash fans ;) since I know there's more of you out there!

May - The grass is cut, finally!

June - Reality car-crash tv is SUCKING ME IN OH NOES HELP

July - Lj trumps!

August - Rather belated weekend update, due to Work making me work (damn them) and internet connection being very wonky...

Sept - Woo The hoff in the Guardian - thanks to _unhurt_ for the tip off...

Oct - Yes, I am back. Tired and vaguely bemused as to whether it is today or yesterday

Nov - Yay costume for party has arrived!

Dec - Why WHY did opening the 2nd bottle of lovely fizzy wine seem like a good idea last night?

Seems like a fairly accurate summation of my year ;p

ION the big stir at work today among the rest of my zombie-like collegues is Celebrity Big Brother and who will be on - rumours include Teh HOFF, Face from teh A-Team, STARSKEY! and that weird precocious child first seen on Wogan who went on to have a sex change. It's like an 80's extravaganza! If any of it is true of course...

Right, proper update - where were we? Ah off to visit [livejournal.com profile] thesme_01.

I had a very lovely evening with Thesme and Mr Thesme. We talked, we drank fizz, we talked some more, drank some more, ate Delicious Dinner prepared by Mr Thesme, drank some more, ranted drunkenly, exchanged presents, drank some more. Thesme's present to me was a very nice Star Trek (original series) Calendar.
After dinner and drinking, and once Mr Thesme very wisely retired to bed, she insisted on... personalising it for me. Which was Very Thoughtful of her. She also insisted I help. The result is a calendar which cannot be displayed anywhere where any normal human being might ever happen to see it.
So probably my bedroom ;p
Then there was more talking (well, ranting), more fizzy wines, chocolate and Firefly watching. A very successful evening I feel.

After that there was more idling, a visit from S. who used to ride ziggy before she ran off to America, which also involved fizzy wines and cider, catching up with other horsey folk and yet more idling.

For New Year's Eve the plan had been go back down to Dublin and see friends there. But it was a horrible horrible day, tehre was a degree of hungoverness and a strong desire to not leave the house at all. Thankfully the friend I was due to visit felt much the same way and we very happily called it all off.
Instead spent a lovely evening at home, with alcohol, in the company of (thanks to teh wonders of teh intarweb), Thipe, Malvino, being_here, Gnillot and various others, before retiring some time around 3 to my own bed. Definitely one of the most civilised ways to spend NYE I've found yet.

The only tricky part was explaining to my mother that while yes, I was technically on my own, I was not actually being anti-social, sadly alcoholic or avoiding the family, I was just being lazy. And comfortable. And having a very nice time with it ;)

Back at work now. Bored. WOE and WAILY and so on.
