Lotus Gloats doesn't actually tell you how many E-mails have arrived - the easiest way to count is to tick all of the new ones and then look at the total when you've finished. 132 in my case this morning... 9 were junk. They went. Then I picked out the ones that had been done in my absence and filed them, cleared out the global announcements and moved the rest into "To do". That left another 29 to be deleted, and over a page of actual work. O NOES. OTOH, people have been glad to see me! (Some haven't, but that's because I wouldn't do what they wanted me to.)
