Bits and pieces...

I've been meaning to update on various things all week and not gotten round to it so here is a sample of the bits I remember, mostly to do with getting back into routine after the combination of Christmas and flu...

Caught up on some reading while I was off ill, including "Summon The Keeper" wot the lovely [livejournal.com profile] being_here got me for christmas, and was great fun, and some Hellboy comics lent by [livejournal.com profile] _unhurt_, likewise much fun and which I must return (and, um, hopefully get my Sandman vol.1 back, eh? OVER A YEAR NOW ;p).

Riding Ziggy properly again - she seems pretty much over the lameness of last year so we've actually been working rather than pottering about slowly, and it HURTS. But it's great fun to be at it again and getting to canter round the indoor arena - which is quite a narrow oval, so goes 'wheee longside RUN, EEK CORNERS SLOW, don't STOP mare, go! WHEEE LONGSIDE RUN, EEK CORNERS' in quick succession. Time for a bit of refresher work on the concept of lengthening and shortening strides and variation *within* a pace.

Mudding. Heh. Got the portrait! And wart 29, maxxed a few more primaries. I'll get to 30 yet ;p
Have been kept vastly amused by the DRAMAS and WAILY and 'screw you guys, I'm going HOME' going on all over the place. Tho due to lack of sleep last night, oddly *less* amused by the witches, despite agreeing with some of it (bloody RING). Possibly because the whiny list of 'look at how little got done for us EVAR' completely left out all the stuff in CWC... waking up muttering AND BROOMS to yourself at 3am is a bit surreal.
The lack of sleep *may* have contributed somewhat to the rambliness and crankiness of the post about it. Ungrateful vermin :p

Also slowly catching up with people I missed over Christmas & just after due to the ILL, going visiting tonight for tea, buns and gossip, yay!

I've even done some work in amidst all of that. So, business as usual again ;)

Did you ever find the second book?

That will make you hoot - though I felt it was weaker than the first book it had bits that made me cackle like a loon!

Oops no, not yet! Tho I haven't really had a chance to look properly, might try hunting it out this weekend ;)

I have to say, there was a whole section in the middle of your post (the bit about withces and CWC) which wooshed straight over my head - straight over - it went WOOOOOOOSH.

But loved the post anyways! :)

Heh no pressure ;p Just a gentle reminder ( over a year!)

Hellboy was indeed class, and roger is excellent, enjoyed them all muchly ;)

heh that bit all relates to discworld mud (http://discworld.atuin.net/) and won't make sense to anyone who doesn't play the game (or even some who do) but I couldn't be arsed making a seperate post for it ;)

CWC stands for Counterweight Continent which is the bit of the game I worked on making stuff for, back when I did that, and we have a guild of witches, for whom I spent Quite Some Time adding stuff and making nice things and was a Little Bit Put Out when someone recently posted on the game boards a whiny list of 'this is ALL anyone's done for us in the last 6 years' and didn't mention a SINGLE BIT of any of the stuff i'd done ;p

WAILY WAILY WAILY

(this makes slightly more sense if you've read any of terry pratchett's discworld books, can't remember if you're a fan or not!)

Have said it before, will probably say it again, Bes Pelargic was a BRILLIANT place to start as a witch who'd never played Discworld before. Thank you!

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh thank you! It's always so nice to hear someone actually liked and enjoyed what you did (as I'm sure you know) - people always seem so very vocal about the stuff they DON'T like, yet rarely bother to tell you what they DO like!

I have to admit the first draft of that post on witches was a tad more... petulant ;p

I love Pratchett's discworld, but not as clued up as you mudders m'fraid. :)

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, we spend a lot of time there ;p Working on Bes Pelagic was fun in a different way cos there is so little on Agatea etc in the books. I read Interesting Times more that most would ever want to tho ;)

These Hellboy Comics... they are MY ones, lent to unhurt are they?

Where and how do you MUD? Is it a website thing?

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I have no idea where she got them from ;p They are very good tho - all Origins of HB type of thing.

The mud website is here (http://discworld.atuin.net) there's a java applet thingy you can play on but a proper mud client is much better and there are plenty free ones around to download, like gmud.
It's all text based rpg type fun, lots of hack and slash but based on Discworld so lots of other fun things to do too ;)
Mostly I stab things, drink scumble and cackle tho ;p
