Hurrah Wednesday is nearly over! And has gone surprisingly well (never could get the hang of them ;p) - well, in the sense that I found myself at lunchtime wandering past Forbidden Planet with cash in my wallet and nothing pressing to spend it on, so I now have vols. 2 & 3 of the Lucifer series and vols 2 & 3 of Preacher for Great Reading Justice.

I am hoping to save them for the weekend, but I may well crack before then. I had planned to read the Sandman bits with Lucifer in as a prelude, then thought of perhaps just reading the whole Sandman from the start. Then remembered SOMEONE still has my first Sandman volume *eyes [livejournal.com profile] _unhurt_*
also, remind me to give you back your Hellboys at some point ;p

Other than that, no news. Am greatly enjoying this whole having-entire-evenings-free lark that comes with the tempory lack of horse, but I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon. In a month or so...

Why the temporary lack of horsey?

sorry, not been around much lately

No worries, she goes out to grass for a break every summer, usually for a couple of months, then I get a couple more months of riding while she's still living out, which means no making up feeds or cleaning out stables. Tis BLISS!

And leaves lots more time for lying around reading ;)

i don't think i like being eyed!

also, help! too much work! make stop!

also also, my "to raed" pile is TERRIFYING. i fear it may topple on me and i will die alone, possibly Eaten By Rats. (i would not be surprised, as john seems to think my fingers, if nibbled* enough, will magically transform into food.)

*rat guideline #23, my favourite so far: "if a rat bites you, do not punish him. squeak and pull your hand away. this is how other rats indicate that behaviour is inappropriate." i - have to pretend to be a very large rat?

The entire Lucifer series has this icon dedicated to it.

Heh, I've only read the first so far, but as it was devoured in one sitting, it's a good sign for the rest.

I have serious doubts about being able to wait for the weekend to start on them, I've had to practically sit on my hands to stop myself pulling them out of the bag and spending the afternoon reading them at my desk!

Also, that is a... well. Awesome icon ;p

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd only take about half an hour or so to read ;p But then I also have a stack of books To Read waiting. Which is why i'm not allowed buy anymore more.

Graphic novels don't count, since they are comics, not books. Obviously.

ps hahaha. Aren't muskrats basically very large rats? ;p

Whoa - wait, wait, wait. Does your wanting to re-read Sandman bits as a prelude mean that this Lucifer series is somehow related? *googles* Oh, comic books. Just when I think I'm finally out, you pull me back in.

[identity profile] mollydot.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've heard of Lucifer. Tell me more.
*waits*

Yes, it's that Lucifer, after he screws Dream over.

I started re-reading my Sandman books a few months ago, on the bus to work, but I think I stopped to read Don Quixote, which in turn (Very, very, funny, but slow to get through), which I then in turn stopped to read The War of the Worlds.

It follows on from the Lucifer who appears in Sandman, tho it's not written by Gaimen - wikipedia here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer_(DC_Comics)) tho it has spoilers so I haven't read past the intro part ;)

The whole series you can find on Amazon here! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer_(DC_Comics)) *pimps*

I've only read the first one so far, but it was a very good start and I've heard great things about it!

Wot he said! Only read the first one so far, but it's looking good!

I never manage to get very far with Don Quixote, but I might try again over the summer ;)

The Lucifer series is fab. I borrowed the series from Tyrell and devoured it all very, very quickly. Which did weird things to my brain. So graphic novels are only allowed to be read in moderation from now on. I am still working through Sandman and Preacher. I had no idea graphic novels were so great. But as I said, they do weird things to my brain!!

I think it's because they come with pictures, so it all sinks into your branes very vividly!

I have to ration myself too, normally I only buy series one at a time with a gap inbetween, but i got a bit carried away yesterday at the rare combination of me with money + forbidden planet with issues I want.

I was a big comic fan when younger, but then didn't read any for years, have just recently started getting back into them and it's great ;) Especially Sandman!

I like Preacher, I've read the first few books a few years ago, but still have to get hold of the rest at some point...
