Lets get physio! Physio!
Nov. 19th, 2007 02:44 pmYep, it's that time of the week again already. Progress is being made - it's all going well apparently, tho that didn't stop her torturing me in yet more fiendish ways!
So! This week was good. Despite being convinced last week there's no way I'd manage on one crutch, by yesterday I was getting round the house on just one. Plus conquering the Stairs of Doom, which was a big milestone for me.
Foot itself is less swollen and almost a normal colour, and general walking (with 2 crutches) is much improved and almost normal looking apparently.
Walking with one is getting off to a good start, but I'm still leaning too far over to the right, need to concentrate and walk upright - thus putting more weight on the wonky leg.
After all that, had to go stand on a step and sink weight down ito the heels (ow ow ow) THEN do lots of heel raises (OW OW OW). But she was impressed that I could actually do them, and now I have to keep at them to get the stretch in the calves and range of movement in the ankle. I used to do them all the time before riding anyway, so it's nothing new. Just ouchy ;p
Then Balance Torture. Trying to stand on what is basically a flattish balloon without holding on. Not quite so good at this, but then I always had crap balance anyway. Have to figure out some thing wobbly enough to practice this on at home, sofa cushions maybe...
Over all, it's all going well - she was quite surprised when I said this was only the 5th session and said I'd made great progress over the last week, so yay me!
Homework for this week - self-inflicted balance torture, balancing on the step and heel raises 3 times a day. Also only using one crutch to get around the house; for now I'm still allowed both to go out and about ;)
AND i don't have to go back til next thursday, so lots of time to practice it all.
For now I'm recovering on teh sofa with jelly babies ;p
