Meh.

Good and bad. Phoned the physio dept. yesterday, waiting list is 3-4 months 'probably 4'. Great.

Then, went to see podiatrist, which all got a bit bizarre as I saw a different one from last time because they were running late, but she kept disappearing to check things with the original one anyway. So it went like this..

Pod. Lady - so, how has it been?
Me - not so good *starts to explain*
Pod lady - oh, hmm. Wait a minute *runs off to check with other pod lady*, comes back, starts again
Me - more explaining
Pod Lady - right, hang on *runs off again*
and so on, for about 20 minutes...

The upshot of this is I now have a heel lift with no actual lift, just the insert, to see how that goes. And they're transferring me to the Pod People in Belfast. Tho realised after I left that in all the running in and out, she never actually got my address here...
She also said that due to the weird mutantness of ankle that 4 months was too long to leave physio, as the seizing up could get more permanent (eek), and to try GP again.
However, the nice lady at the physio place said there was no point doing that since the referrals are assessed there anyway and that probably wouldn't change.

So. Time to go private perhaps. Have to investigate and see how much it costs.
Oh in the middle of the odd Pod People consulting, I also got a parking ticket. BAH.

ANYWAY. The Good. Wii Fit is fun and actually helping to some degree I think - definitely noticed less stiffness all round in Pilates last night, which is good. Will probably do a fuller update on how its working out after another week of using it.
Also remembered I joined civil service healthcare thing many many years ago, so phoned them this morning and they'll chip in £200 towards cost of physio!
Besides it's friday, it's sunny and there's a LONG WEEKEND ahead, with nothing at all planned to do! If it stays sunny, I may try cutting the grass.

Also may go shoe shopping again, see if I can get nice flat (bah) shoes for upcoming wedding.

ETA phoned hospital, got private appointment for 3 weeks today! HURRAH!

er also - ring physio TODAY! That's great news re: healthcare thingy! Phew!

Will your weekend involve cider

I'm just back from lunch with the hoor. I'm feeling very moist now.

my physio guy was only £20 for a visit (and he put electricity through my knee the second time and massaged me painfully - shut up thesme! - the first time) so hopefully you will be able to find someone? think my guy is 'just' a sports physio, but unsure what actual difference is - sportsfolk break limbs too, and horsing is a sport afiak.

ARE YOU COMING TO TROWEL? (THE ANSWER IS 'YES' BTW.)

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that an actual real film then?? Wow. I shall. When is it on?

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
How did you find yours then? Did someone recommend him?

Musgrave do private physio too, so may just phone then, also found the number of the one my pilates teacher goes to, who she thinks is great.

That's a lot cheaper than I thought too, yay!

Hmm. Have been trying to canvass support for BTT in here today, but no-one is biting. Possibly from a combination of it being on monday AND in the slimelight. Am taking tuesday off tho, so may well show up!

[identity profile] thesme-01.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
em dunno
em will find out

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but WHICH ONE? how do you know which one to pick? Pondering just going to musgrave privately, since they have an ad in the yellow pages for that. Dunno. HELP ME

My weekend might involve cider, now you mention it. I should buy some!

[identity profile] thesme-01.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Go to musgrave privately. Honest

i just googled sports physios because the guy i saw a couple of years ago (who was £40/30 minutes, just fyi) wasn't answering his phone. he is Physio To The Stars now, apparently. well, to NI sports stars. i can give you my chap's number and maybe he could recommend someone if he's not the man for you, if you like?

well, it may be the slimelight but we have the place BOOKED. so no scumacious hordes (except us). also: is for diana etc's mencap charity exfforts, so kick them a bit harder if you can!

*is also off tuesday yay*

ahahahhaha ahahah ahahahahhaah just looking thro yellow pages and spy following ad -

'physio and osteo treatments
(NO THRUSTING OR TWISTING)'

that's them out then ;p

[identity profile] lazy-hoor.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Hospitals are ace. My mum just told me she brought Grandad to hospital to have his hearing aid fixed. They said they couldn't fix it there and then, they'd have to take it off him and ring him when it's fixed.

He can't hear the phone now.

[identity profile] thesme-01.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
No thrusting or twisting? what a waste of time!

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, screw that!

Have phoned musgrave, have appointment for 3 weeks (even their private waiting list is massive ;p)

Now just have to deal with vague and pointless guilt about queue skipping etc...

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
phoned musgrave, they're £35 quid a session, so that's booked! Much cheaper than i thought it would be actually.

[identity profile] thesme-01.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
bad middle class person who has freed up a place on the public waiting list?

(this is what I say to Mr T when he gets vague pointless guilt)

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
hehe exactly. Also have said the same many times to mum in the past - but of course branes tell me she genuinely NEEDS fast treatment where as I should be waiting my turn and probably don't really need it anyway etc etc etc.

Tho. just tried moving stupid foot to remind self i may acutally NEED this too ;p

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That's very... speshul of them. I do worry after the whole 'come for an operation! what do you mean, you already had it?' experience.

[identity profile] adelpha.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds vaguely manga-like

[identity profile] mollydot.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I reckon that queue skipping is unfair only when there's just the one queue and you're pushing other people out of the way. But if there's two, you're not actually skipping, just moving queue. As thesmor says, everyone behind you in the original queue gets to move forward one place now that you're out of the way. Plus you're saving the health service a little bit of money.

I think it's only unfair in the same way as people having different amounts of money is unfair.
