Omg politics!

So. Those goverment e-petitions things. Any good? Pointless? Or a way to at least get something noticed?

There is currently one Here asking for a reprimand from teh PM for Iris Robinson, an MP and local MLA, for her comments recently about homosexuality being "an abomination" and how she knows a "lovely psychiatrist" who can turn teh gay back to the Right Path of hetrosexuality -

I have a very lovely psychiatrist who works with me in my offices and his Christian background is that he tries to help homosexuals - trying to turn away from what they are engaged in," she said.

"I'm happy to put any homosexual in touch with this gentleman and I have met people who have turned around and become heterosexuals."

Iris is also married to our new First Minister, Peter Robinson, and isn't it great to know we're being led into the Bright New Future of N.Ireland by two such narrow minded, bigotted and deluded fuckwits? Also of course members of the main ruling party here along with Ian Paisley Junior, who not so long again said in a interview that he was disgusted by homosexuals. Junior? I have a feeling the feeling may be mutual...

So far there are over 6000 names on the petition. Feel free to add more.

I have no idea how effective - or if at all - these pm petitions are, but it can't hurt to try! Even just to register somewhere that spouting this kind of crap is Not A Good Thing. And also dangerous.

I used to sign these, until I heard that Gordon Brown is known to phone people who've signed them to explain government policy. Since then, I've firmly (firmly!) avoided them.

Yikes. Tho, it'd be an interesting conversation. Especially if I've had some cider. Maybe I could talk to him about hunting too...

Given that my phone numbers aren't in the phone book, I'd certainly be interested in a discussion of the data protection act if he did ever call.

I thought that was just NewLabeller members?
