As requested, photographic evidence of clear bedroom floor. Hideously carpetted clear bedroom floor. Some day I really will have to work out how to get the furntiture out of the bedroom so I can get a less offensive carpet in there!

Obviously I didn't quite get round to putting away all the books I salvaged from the floor. Yet. The flower throw thing is there to keep wet muddy cats off the nice clean bed. Sometimes it even works.

For comparison (tho this was taken a while ago) and to clarify why this is such an achievement, it usually looks more like this !

I even did the bit down the side of the bed. That carpet really is hideous tho. And paintstained too. Some day I shall get rid. Some day...

And, just for [livejournal.com profile] lazy_hoor teh secret bedroom!

Complete with cat! Authors like cats, right?

Also books! they like books (cunning angled to avoid most of the huge pile of junk in the corner ;p)

And finally, one last patio shot, now with newly-contructed table, chair, somewhat weeded bed, and rain. More bloody rain.

I am feeling quite accomplished now! So shall finish watching P&P while eating crisp sandwiches ;)

You've inspired me to keep up my 'tidy bedroom' initiative! I might do some more clearing out tonight!

woo, I don't think I've ever been a tidying inspiration before!

After P&P I may go start on teh spare room, where a lot of the excess from my room has ended up. Probably time to start filling another charity bag. And washing basket...

For Reference, btw, it usually looks more like this - http://pics.livejournal.com/hellison/pic/000518a0 I should add that to the post really ;p

OH, MY, GOD

*thud*

PS if you order carpet often the nice men who install it will move the furniture. Divan bed bases often come in two parts that can be detached for removal.

Hmm. They do? Any time I've had carpet in I think I've moved everything myself. But the problem isn't so much moving the stuff (the bed base does indeed split into two), as where to move it *to*.
The bed *might* fit in on top of the spare room bed, but there's still nowhere to put the wardrobe or the chest of drawers.
Unless they can move them around as they work somehow...

It is very impressive isn't it? Tho I think i need to get rid of more stuff, the drawers are all stuffed full now and I have more to put away!

There must be something in the air - my pad received a similar burst of domesticity.

As a solution to the carpet problem - I'd suggest looking for a pattern that involves geometric shapes, that way you can cut out sections and replace them, one at a time

Possibly because it's raining so much there's bugger all else to do ;p Doing it over 3 days was good tho, as there was also a great deal of lazing too.

Sadly, it is unlikely to stay looking like this for very long, unless I can trap an author for the secret bedroom who also likes cleaning ;p

Hmm. that is quite cunning actually! They do make carpet tiles, I'm sure. And I can shred that monstrosity as I go! What I've never understood is who looked at that in a shop and thought 'ooh, lovely, we'll take that one!'.

Really?
Oh, er, I meant to say "Yes, of course, I meant that".

What I've never understood is who looked at that in a shop and thought 'ooh, lovely, we'll take that one!'.
Surely the question to ask is when was that carpet set down?
I'd put money on the late 80's to early 90's.

Rain? Alas, we only had a brief shower here and that was this afternoon.

I did find that I needed the odd break to deal with the dust off some of the books I was restacking.

Trapping authors eh? That's a bit of an odd hobby.
Mind you, any author fanatical about cleaning can't be much cop. Surely.

heh. It could work! You never know ;p

I have a feeling it was there before the people i got the place from moved in because it goes with nothing else, which would place it in late 80 or so.
Tho I'm not sure there is any form of decor it *would* go with.

Yesterday was lovely all sunshine and blue skies. Today is back to grey, cold and wet.

And what else would you do with a secret bedroom except use it to store books and boxes of junk trap unwary authors?

So any old author?
If so, I'll give the Baron of Weston-Super-Mare a shout...

I reckon some singular colour, perhaps light grey with a trim, something minimal.

Well. I might have one specific author in mind...

Maybe. It certainly doesn't go with turquoise walls. Must also paint room (tho, I've been saying that for 8 years now ;p)

What you can't see in the photo and *really* makes it, is the bright yellow border that goes around the tops of the walls. Really brings it all together...

That's what my side of the bed looks like. For some reason, Ian doesn't like this.

I had a bedroom that was turquoise and yellow too once. The walls were turquoise, the woodwork yellow, the duvet cover and curtains were yellow, and the pillows were turquoise. I was about 14 and wasn't allowed to paint it black.

I'm pretty sure they moved stuff round when they were fitting ours, yeah definitely the bed anyway... I wouldn't worry about it cos I'm sure they have to deal with that kind of thing a lot.

NOO CARPET!

Hmm. I might go ask in a few places. Need new stairs carpet too, it's done. I shall think on this!

Lovely combination isn't it? I actually looked at the border this morning for the first time in ... years probably and not only is it bright yellow, it has a green pattern on it. So tasteful.

STOP ENABLING ME! Am now thinking I could get rid of the pointless big mirror on the wall (since it looks dumb with no drawers under it now), get a bigger wardrobe there and put another bookcase where the current wee wardrobe is!

And get it all painted a decent colour.

SEE WHAT YOU'VE DONE NOW?
