News that made me smile!

Second my New Favourite Headline - I ATE HIS BRAINS - LOVELY!

Morbid maybe, but it made me laugh (the headline, not the actual brane eating):p HMM BRANEZZZZ. Fried in butter apparently :p Besides, it would be awful to think he went to all that trouble only to find they tasted horrible...
In sadder news, my professor from uni died. http://www.qub.ac.uk/arcpal/staff/d_simpson.htm
He was a lovely man, extemely intelligent and always very helpful. Since leaving uni I've spent many happy evenings drinking and chatting with him at various conferences and so on. He had a wicked sense of humour and used to delight in very subtly taking the piss out of people who would only talk shop to him, once confiding in us that he was sick to the back teeth of people making him talk about flint artifacts or sourcing pitchstone in the pub. He was much happier arguing about military history, tanks and things that go BOOM.
He also had the largest capacity not only for drink but for recovery I have ever seen. He could drink til he had to be carried to bed and still be up first for breakfast the next morning, grinning at us all over a huge fry as we struggled to face a bit of toast, go on to give a conscise, informative and even interesting talk about whatever (a REAL rarity among archaeologists), then head back to the bar to do it all again.
Wherever you are now Prof, I hope they have a decent G&T waiting for you.
