hellisonI enjoyed it! I'll put more detail under a cut for those who haven't seen it, but I had fun watching. It's not the greatest movie ever, and some of it was a bit pointless, but over all, it was good and it made me laugh ;)
So. The new bit... wasn't hugely impressed by the going to visit the John Malkovich guy, despite usually being instantly rapt by anything he does, was this what sent you off to sleep![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
vashti? The trip to vogosphere was much better, despite the hugely red dwarf-esque pod thing. The strange hit-in-the-face things made me laugh muchly, can't remember if they were in the books.
Marvin - wasn't too keen on the design of marvin, but Alan Rickman got the voice off perfectly, which made up for it.
Arthur and Trillian were good, tho I think the original Arthur was closer to my idea of him. OTH I may have preferred this Trillian to the tv one actually (wossname's voice was always off putting). Soppy love story bit was a tad bleh, but it is teh movies.
Zaphod - they DID get the two heads in, yay! And a good job of giving them very different personalities too. Ford I liked as well, even with the American accent.
DIDN'T like.. the Heart of Gold, it's supposed to be breathtakingly lovely, not a weird hollowed out teapot. I'd have like to have seen more of the weirdness when Arthur and Ford are first picked up too, where were the penguins and the monkeys eh? Already said I wasn't fussed on the John Malcovich bit, I got the feeling it was put in just so they could do the creepy hundreds of legs thing (anyone else think luggage?).
The POV gun was good tho, despite the incredibly weak plot point for getting it in there.
And the whale. I always feel so sorry for that poor whale but it would have been Very Wrong not to put it in *sniffs*.
We had with us someone who had never really read the books (yes, they do exist) and he enjoyed it, which we were curious about because in places I think it would have been hard to have a clue what was going on if you were a new comer to it. But he liked it so that was ok :p
I'd certainly watch it again anyway ;)
Went to the pub afterwards for a couple (drinking on a school night, haven't done that in a while) which may have contributed to the rather odd dream I had, which involved many of YOU dear readers, particularlycjk1701, reuss and malvino and assorted other mudders.
We were all at a mud meet in somebody's house, wherereuss and I were taking much time to get ready and spent ages fixing our hair (there's a surprise), when were ATTACKED by vogons, so we went to the pub (naturally), barred the doors and ate chips. cjk1701 bravely went off with Yavanna and Dogbolter to distract the vogons while the rest of us ran off out the back, but before we left the pub malvino cut off his hair as a disguise, which went very curly and very disturbingly Hasslehoff-esque.
We all ran through some very fancy landscaped gardens chased by teh vogons, where we came across Robbie Williams who was showing off standing on a bridge singing, until a vogon shoved him into the water. There was much rejoicing and then I woke up :p
