WTF?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4514906.stm

The WTF moment being not so much the removal of the painting but the fact that the complaints, from *men* included "Some said the picture would upset women".

Not women complaining.
No, MEN complaining that Ladies would be Upset by a rather vague drawing of MALE FLESH.

OH NOES! Quick quick, I'm hyperventilating at the very THOUGHT, someone loosen my stays and fetch my smelling salts and embroidery! Call for my carriage, I must be taken home before my tiny mind (assuming I have one) collapses entirely!

Seriously, What The Fuck?
Have we slipped back a century or two and no-one told me? Who ARE these men? Why do they still exist? Are they on day release?

PS on an entirely unrelated note, I hope none of you Englanders are on fire or getting smoked out

I think they are from the same stable as the people who told us that Jerry Springer: The Opera was evil and demanded that it be banned for our own good ;)

The only argument I can see for censorship on behalf of others is when the material is liable to increase social instability or crime... a cartoon piccie of a bloke with his willy out hardly does that, you can find thousands of examples in secondary school workbooks around the world.

jerry springer practically is an opera already. all it lacks is the music.
