Poetry, again ;)

Something that I noticed last week with all the Pome Memeing - all my poetry books, mostly anthologies, are Old. Some are Really Old, some are quite old, but they're all pretty much old ;p Comes of mostly picking them up at random in 2nd hand book shops I guess. Nothing recent at all.

So, anyone got any good recommendations/favourite they'd like to suggest? Poets, particular poems, collections etc, all suggestions gratefully received.

After all its been almost weeks now since my last Amazon spree, and I'll need more than just the Mike Baillie books to get teh free posting ;p

Collections I have and I think you'd like:

Anne Stevenson, The Fiction-Makers
Liz Lochhead, True Confessions
Adrian Mitchell, Love Songs of World War Three
Wendy Cope - 'If I Don't Know'

I offer no guarantees about their being in print - I'm behind on my keeping-up-with-poetry, really. I'd also recommend collected Kipling and Chesterton, wouldn't be without those, and Brian Patten. My absolute favourite anthology is 'Other Men's Flowers' collected by Lord Wavell.

Hmm, I was sure I replied to this before, but it was obviously only in my head...

Thanks for these, I shall keep a look out, I've read some Wendy Cope, but the others I don't think so.

2 votes for Liz Lochhead now, so I'll have to go look her up too!
