Thats the SECOND time fucking amazon have let me order this, kept me waiting for MONTHS then told me they can't get it.

WHY DO THEY DO THIS TO ME?

Anyone any idea where I *can* get a copy? Forbidden Planet have the unillustrated version but... Hmm. Ebay perhaps.

Oh, I didn't Google that. Adebooks are a sort of Amazon Marketplace sort of thing for independent bookshops. You can very often find old, out-of-print, unusual or for'n books on there at quite acceptable prices. You can also find hardbacks for 100 quid, mind, but it's very often worth checking out for books that have been out a while. (I've yet to find cheap brand new books on there.)

Looks like it's definitely worthwhile having a bit of a poke around it. Despite firm resolve not to buy any more new books til I've finished the last lot...

might be worth giving no alibis a ring - when i got my ticket for the Great Hellison NG Pervathon - er, i mean, reading - they had various american editions and stuff. the guy told me they often get stuff like that in. ok, they might not be able to help, but since they're local and nice i'd give them first shot at your cash were i you (you can email them instead if - like me- you HATE phoning shops).
