I just spent all of lunchtime, and more writing an EPIC update post of all my adventures of the last week, including our stay at http://www.mountjuliet.ie, Anthony's wedding, various other things and the Hell That Is Babysitting.
It previewed fine. So I went to post, forgetting to copy and paste it somewhere first. and LO it was GONE
WOE WOE AND THRICE WOE.
Not doing all that again. So. To summarise -
Mount Juliet - lovely place, amazing grounds, great staff, divine spa treatments and beautiful horses. Details of the riding fun I posted on
equestrian if anyone is interested.
Photos at http://eatin.fotopic.net/c431902.html - only a few because I forgot my camera :/. Lovely relaxing break, but just not long enough!
Brother's wedding - his 2nd, went fine, despite him only inviting immediate family while Emma's whole family and friend were there, and often feeling like no-one, including Anthony, would have noticed if we hadn't showed. Still, had a good day, got through dumbass balloon reading without laughing out loud and Emma looked v. lovely. Will probably post pics later in the week
Had lazy weekend til 11am yesterday when Handover Of Brats took place and I became proud guardian of Ollie (5 1/2) Leo (16 mths) and Toby (3mth bouncy lab. puppy). Ollie was v. good, biggest problem was getting him off x-box to play with v. bored puppy outside. Puppy similarly easy - or would have been if I could have run about with him myself! Ollie got bored quickly and it was too cold to take Leo out for long.
Leo on the other hand... obviously he is upset by missing parents and also changeover of babysitters, but that child has a wicked temper. Tantrums at every opportunity, full on rigid-on-the-floor screaming his head off, for very little or even no excuse. And he still isn't sleeping through the night. He went to bed fine at 7.30, but waited til 3.30 to wake up screaming. Thankfully he went back to sleep ok and didn't wake til 7.30.
But Oh Dear. I have discovered a new Least Favourite Way To Start The Week.
1 Tempermental Toddler.
1 very full stinky nappy.
1 tantrum involving much rolling around in contents of said stinky nappy while disgusted and barely awake aunt has toddler by the ankles desperately trying to prevent escape and clean up mess before passing out from smell.
Not Good. Not Good at all. Add to this sulking 5 yr old because his very bored puppy had chewed thro the lead for his x-box controller and you have a great start to a Monday morning...
Tonight, a return to this house of chaos and only one more morning before my duty is done. And I won't be doing this again in a hurry! How in god's name people manage to do this EVERY DAY and still get to work and function I have no idea.
Am also going to try taking that poor puppy out for a walk this evening after the terrors are in bed, he is desperately in need of it!
