Read this - http://rebecca.hitherby.com/archives/000675.php (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mirrorshard for the link). It is a delight to read. This is how I wish I could write. Just the ... wordiness of it (see, I can't even find the words to describe the words) and the way it flows - and thats before you get down to the ideas behind the actual story.
I'm almost afraid to look at the archive cos I'll just get lost in there and not resurface til they kick me out of here this evening, and I really do have to do SOME work.

On the subject of writing, is anyone doing the nanowrimo this year? http://www.nanowrimo.com/
I am uncertain. I enjoyed it last year, it was fun to just sit down and babble onto a page and I'm sad I never got it finished (just as the pirates were about to come get the sexelves too!), tho still impresssed I managed over 30,000 words. Even if they weren't particularly good words.
Can't think of anything to write *about* this year tho, and I was hoping to go into it a little more prepared if I did it this time round. Hmm.

Anyway, registration for this year starts Saturday, if anyone else is going to play ;)

Hmm. This evening I have to ride ziggy, babysit for an hour and go to Pilates class.

Plan for achieving this goes as follows -
Leave work early (in about 5 mins), get home, change, go to yard, bring horse in. Hopefully this can all be achieved before about 5.15
Go to sister's for 5.30, pick up Shea & sister's car (much easier than trying to move the baby seat between cars), also possibly mother, take him to my house for an hour or so, possibly via stables so he can see teh horsies.
Return child and car (also possibly mother) 6.30ish, go back to stables. Ride, feed, turn horse out again by c.8.15.
Go to Pilates in riding gear - well we do it in bare feet and jodphurs are about as comfortable as anything else to do it.
Get home 10ish. Collapse.

I'm not entirely convinced this will all work. But didn't ride yesterday, can't tomorrow (more family stuff, damn them!) So have to tonight. Also have to take Shea. At the very worst, if everything over runs horribly, I can skip Pilates, which is hardly the end of the world, but I'd rather not.
Actually the only real 'have to' is taking Shea for an hour, I could skip riding but I really don't want to.

ETA (7ish) things WERE kinda going to plan, but Shea is having so much fun with the cats I can't bear to rush him off. Also, I can't get him to stand still for more than 2 seconds at a time to get dinner into him :p

ps aww, she's busy killing again (little goth mood icon thingy girl). Tho not sure why this makes her blink so much. Praps she got blood in her eyes? Or she's trying to tell me something in semaphore, or eye-lid Morse. Who knows?

Well the buying Anansi Boys dilemna is neatly solved thus - Jane Morpeth, from Headline Books, has a request for anyone in the UK or Ireland who was planning on waiting until I get to the UK in November to buy your copy an ANANSI BOYS, and it's this. Please don't wait. Buy it now.

From the man itself, buy it this weekend and it might top the bestseller list ;)

Do any of you know what the story is with Mirrormask being released in the UK? Haven't seen anything about it in cinemas here so far.

In the end (because I know you're all curious, naturally) I didn't make riding - the revised plan was to drop Shea back home, then ride and skip Pilates, but when I finally got to the yard, someone had given her a whole pile of hay to eat. So riding was out, put her back out in the field and just about made it to Pilates. Which was bloody tough tonight btw. Poor stomach muscles don't know what hit them!
