Sep. 30th, 2005 05:05 pmYay, I have Thud! and Where's my cow?. Well, there's no point going buying presents for everyone else if I don't get some for me is there?
Only query now - which do I read first? Tricky.
Still the anticipation will hopefully keep me going through the American Wake for teh brother & family tonight. Canadian wake to be exact. Did I mention they're emigrating to Canada? Next week too.
The mother is, of course, upset but pretending not to be. I, on the other hand, don't really see that it's such a big deal. Possibly because in Days Gone By, when someone emigrated, that was it, they were gone (hence the Wake), apart from the occasional letter and christmas card.
However, since I speak to (well read text from ;p) people in Australia (hi sydmud), America and indeed Canada (hi
kearsley) on a regular, and sometimes daily basis, it doesn't seem like a Big Severence or anything. I did almost say earlier on the phone 'It's not like they're moving half way across the world or anything' but stopped just in time when I realised that they actually are. Maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet.
I will miss little Leo tho. Of course there all cheap holidays in Toronto to look forward to now ;)
Mostly I'm vaguely put out because tonight - well, right NOW actually - I should be in teh bar 2 doors down from here drinking cocktails for Alice's birthday, but instead I have to drive down home for Family Dinner Ordeal, now with extra babies.
And then do it all AGAIN on Sunday for the christening.
Heh, I really am turning into a grouchy old hermit. Go me ;p
