Yay I have new boots! Very STOMPY new boots at that. With FUR

Well, it snows in Canada, I shall need them ([livejournal.com profile] kearsley i do not wish to hear that it is currently unseasonably warm and the big snows don't come til after xmas anyway. NEW BOOTS!).

Also, I bought a furry hat, with earflaps. Not a Jayne hat alas, but it *does* make me look like a idiot, so it's still a win ;)

Managed, after a bit of faffing with online booking, phone calls and email, to book hotel just round the corner from Paddington station.
Many thanks for the offers of a bed, but this is so handy for the Heathrow express. And the pub ;) I shall come visiting properly another time!

So, is the Paddington station pub ok for everyone? If so meet up there from say 6 onwards? If it's not ok, we can look elsewhere.

I'll actually be there from about 3/3.30 so if anyone is free to come along earlier, or wants to sneak out of work (HI [livejournal.com profile] leeda!) earlier, let me know ;)

Ack in all the NEW BOOTS/PINTS excitement I totally forgot jumping lessons are starting tonight, and we're *starting* at 70 (2'3").
Which might not sound like much, but when you're cantering up to it (or rather them, there's bound to be doubles) on a horse that prefers jumping at least 4ft and will occasionally do so anyway, it's a bit different.

It's about as high as I'm comfortable with. On a good day. If I keep my eyes shut. And that's the START height.

Rationally I know we won't have to do anything we really don't want to, but nerves are setting in already and inwardly I'm all FLAIL FLAIL PANIC ARRGH FLAIL.

I could DIE!
Better go get ready...

UPDATE! You'll be pleased to learn I didn't die. Didn't even come close! Turns out the 70 thing was to scare off a couple of the bratty kids so we could actually have a decent lesson. We had leetle jumps but had to be Controlled and stop in between, change pace and so on. Even did bounces at the end which was great!
Yay.

The idea of jumping terrifies me so much, but once I get started, I love it! God knows why, but it just adds to the fun ;)
Plus everyone like my new hat. Well, they were laughing, so I'm assuming it was a hit!
