Thank You!
Dec. 29th, 2007 12:10 amThis is a post I've had in mind for a while. I'd planned to make it at the start of December, but then Life/Death intervened and I didn't get home as planned... but, anyway.
Seven months ago, I packed a bag, put some food out for the cats (and arranged for someone to come feed them) and left for the weekend.
Two days ago, me and the cats came back home.
Regular Readers will know why, so I won't go into that.
What I do want to say is a very big thank you to ALL of you.
To everyone who has sent good wishes, happy thoughts, texts, emails, comments, cards, letters, presents, even horror. If I'd been stranded through this I'd have gone insane. But I wasn't.
You phoned, you texted, you commented, you came to visit, you sent cards, books, dvds, presents - a Jayne Hat. You dragged me round the mud when I was high as a kite on painkillers, and when I wasn't. Chatted to me even when I made little sense.
Answered the phone when I was COMPLETELY off my head on morphine (and i'm still not quite sure how many of you that applies to).
Sent me music to listen to, wrote HORROR, drew pictures on my cast, LICKED MY TOES YOU FREAK.
Gave me things to do, websites to visit, new places to shop (hmm BPAL), recommended books and comics to read. Accepted broken plans/promises and re-arranged things to work anyway.
Brought me tea/cider/fizzy wines. Opened doors, helped me up steps, drove me around, waited for me as I went very, very slowly (even if sometimes it was just because I had the tickets ;p). Had me to stay and made it easy for me to visit. Offered firemans lifts. Chatted to me online like a normal person when I felt like a trapped invalid.
Listened to me moan/whine/cry/scream/rant/have tantrums/say I CAN'T like a toddler.
Basically, helped keep me relatively sane over the last while.
Without you, I honestly don't know how I'd have coped. Not naming names because I know I'd miss someone out and I'm pretty sure I've missed out already things that have been done for me.
But I wanted to try to say somewhere (and somehow) just how much I appreciate everyone just being there. I can't think of words big enough to express it tho (and I still don't know how to do sparkly scrolly text), so I'll just go with
THANK YOU
