Helo! Apparently *waves at [livejournal.com profile] _unhurt_ I have not been posting enough. You poor poor things. But last week was a busy one on other journals, with stories to write, haikus to compose, icons to make and an awful lot of Muffled Laughter Trying Not To Get Sacked (hehehe wingnut sebastian ;p).

And I hadn't been up to much to speak of really anyway ;p

This weekend was a long one, due to discovering I still had a day's leave to take before the end of the month. So Friday off! Hurrah!

The plan WAS to do lots of clearing out upstairs, in preperation for teh party next weekend. Needless to say, this did not quite happen. I was working myself up to it, by sitting about in PJs drinking tea, when the Cute Gardening Guy called. He ALWAYS calls when I am sitting about on a weekday in my PJs - usually with a hangover - and offers to attack various parts of the garden for large sums of money. Which I generally agree to because I am very hungover and just want to lie down (I am sure he thinks I am some sort of drunken lady of leisure - a lush who lunches?).

The upshot being that with him and his mate busy in the garden I hastily revised plans for the day and cleaned up downstairs instead (so I don't look like a slob as well as a lush ;p). Then went shopping. However now the Plot of Shame at the back of the house is now cleared of weeds and... stuff, and they cut the hedge right back so I can get the car in the driveway AND not get soaked getting in and out of it. YAY!
They are coming back to concrete the path too, or something (I am just waiting for them to offer me some lucky heather *waves at FC*).

Saturday was more eventful! Went for Family Day Out to see "Stones in their Pockets" at the opera house and it is very VERY good. Crying-with-laughter funny in parts; well worth seeing if you ever get the chance. It did occur to me at one point that it was nice to be amused by something NORMAL for a change. However, the play ended (as they are wont to do), I turned on my phone and what did I get?
Photos of GIANT WEEVILS.
Then, we went for dinner at v. nice chinese resturant across the road. Perusing menu, specifically starters. What do I see? "frilly" crispy prawn balls - very nice!.
WOE the evil crack RPS is following me even into REAL LIFE. Where I should be SAFE. Damn you all!
Naturally, txted Unhurt, leading to much questioning from the Mother over who I was texting, what and why. Luckily, once I managed to convince her it was not some Mystery Man, she lost interest and dinner continued as normal -ie the mother lecturing over what we were eating/drinking (coke has SUGAR in it. Who knew?) while we fought over who got how much of what and HEY stop eating MY dinner. Ah families.

So.
This is the Grand Opera house. All Victorian and Ornate and fancified. Maybe not to everyone's taste, but a pretty distintive style. They built an extension, which was unveiled last week.
It? Looks something like THIS - though in reality, it looks much, much worse (I can't find an actual photograph of it).
It is a big box of coloured concrete which *already* looks dirty. SURELY there are architects out there who can look at a building and build something that complements it? Not necessarily copies, or matches, but, you know, looks VAGUELY like they might be connected. Not just taking your dissertation project and plonking it down wherever you get the first chance to show how Modern and Edgey your designs are.
Basically, from outside, it looks like shit. Inside? Didn't go upstairs, but downstairs, it's a great big echoy auditorium, with a 'resturant' at one end that looks more like a school canteen stuck at one end of a PE hall. Which is a bit of a break from the red velvet and gilded elephants of the original interior, with seemingly no attempt to blend the two together at all.

In short? Architects? You failed. I have yet to meet anyone who actually likes the look of it.

Sunday was very uneventful - sleeping, horse, family, tv, bed.
And now, you are updated. Lucky you!
