Jan. 2nd, 2007 02:08 pmRight, proper update - where were we? Ah off to visit
thesme_01.
I had a very lovely evening with Thesme and Mr Thesme. We talked, we drank fizz, we talked some more, drank some more, ate Delicious Dinner prepared by Mr Thesme, drank some more, ranted drunkenly, exchanged presents, drank some more. Thesme's present to me was a very nice Star Trek (original series) Calendar.
After dinner and drinking, and once Mr Thesme very wisely retired to bed, she insisted on... personalising it for me. Which was Very Thoughtful of her. She also insisted I help. The result is a calendar which cannot be displayed anywhere where any normal human being might ever happen to see it.
So probably my bedroom ;p
Then there was more talking (well, ranting), more fizzy wines, chocolate and Firefly watching. A very successful evening I feel.
After that there was more idling, a visit from S. who used to ride ziggy before she ran off to America, which also involved fizzy wines and cider, catching up with other horsey folk and yet more idling.
For New Year's Eve the plan had been go back down to Dublin and see friends there. But it was a horrible horrible day, tehre was a degree of hungoverness and a strong desire to not leave the house at all. Thankfully the friend I was due to visit felt much the same way and we very happily called it all off.
Instead spent a lovely evening at home, with alcohol, in the company of (thanks to teh wonders of teh intarweb), Thipe, Malvino, being_here, Gnillot and various others, before retiring some time around 3 to my own bed. Definitely one of the most civilised ways to spend NYE I've found yet.
The only tricky part was explaining to my mother that while yes, I was technically on my own, I was not actually being anti-social, sadly alcoholic or avoiding the family, I was just being lazy. And comfortable. And having a very nice time with it ;)
Back at work now. Bored. WOE and WAILY and so on.

Date: 2007-01-02 02:38 pm (UTC)And as for the Normal, well calendars normally go in the kitchen so all manner of folks could see it there, plumbers and Gardener George and the like. And of course, the Mother who, while not exactly Normal, is not of the brand of Odd that would really appreciate Thesme's artistic representations of Kirk/Spock.
Bah, where is my Callum/Uhura icon when I need it?

Date: 2007-01-02 04:31 pm (UTC)And I don't have a gardener as such, he just shows up periodically (usually when I am hungover and still shuffling about in pjs at lunchtime), points out Things That Need Doing and then offers to do them in exchange for large sums of money, which I generally agree to just so I can escape indoors and put some proper clothes on ;p
He is kinda cute tho ;p
