Physio, again
Feel free to skip, a summary of this week's visit - Painful Progress made!
So, today, she did what I had dreaded most, took one crutch away and made me walk. Well, try to walk. More a painful lurch really. I thought it'd be one or two steps, but NO! I had to keep going. Tho she did give me her arm to go round a corner. Then made me walk/lurch back again.
As with everything she's done so far tho, once the initial OH NO I CAN'T NO passed, it was possible. Painful, but possible, and no disaster ensued.
The one-crutch lurching was followed by more balancing practice, which I am apparently much better at than last week, so yay me there! Also, my walking with 2 crutches is looking much more normal as well.
For the future - she wants me down to one completely in the next two weeks, which gives me a goal to aim for - a scary goal, but a goal.
Then off crutches altogether and onto a walking stick not long after that. Then I get to go on the treadmill and exercise bike! Yay!
For this week - practice the one crutch lurch in short bursts during the day, til it turns into something more like walking, and to talk longer walks on the 2 crutches. Also have to tackle stairs. May go round to my sister's later to try hers before I give my own a go (since hers are nice and wide with bannisters on both side, not narrow and steep like mine ;p).
But! If I can do the stairs and master the one-crutch walking, there's nothing to stop me moving back to my own house properly! Two weeks is the end of the month really, so I reckon I can aim for December to be back home and back at work almost properly, then fully once physio is done, whenever that is.
There is an end in sight! AT LAST.
