Yesterday, I got up the stairs with no crutch! Hurrah! Down is still more problematic, possibly in part because my stairs are so bloody steep, it's still nerve-wracking looking down from the top. Might try in work when no-one is looking ;p

Also, tonight, start pilates again, which is very exciting, another step towards normality (ok, what passes for normality in hellisonland ;p), altho slightly worrying because having done nothing resembling exercise for 7 months, I fear there will be Pain.

Very sleepy today due to getting sucked into watching Terminator 3 last night, because I'd never seen it. And now I know why. Sucked is very definitely the operative word there. Still, it did lead to a very intellectual discussion this morning on giant killer robots and zombies, which is always a good way to start the day, don't you think?

I can't think about the time travel aspects of the Terminator films, it really hurts my brain. Cos, right, a terminator is sent to kill Sarah Conor, and that get's killed so all is well, right? No, cos apparently Skynet builds a computer which brings about the end of the world (or California at least, no bad thing surely) and then some liquid robot turns up. He gets killed so all is well. No! Something else happened - I can't remember now. I don't remember much of T3, other than it sucked ass.

Oh and future dude being John Conor's dad, and then dying in the present - but he's alive in the future still, right? Or he wouldn't come back to 1984. How does that work?

Where do you sit on zombies who run, as in the DOTD remake? A friend was disgusted by this. I don't see the problem cos for most of them rigor mortis wouldn't have set in.

But anyway, one can't be pedantic about zombie films really...

But running shows intentionality! Zombies are not meant to be intentional as their branes have been taken over by an evil, yet very stupid, virus!!!

As far as I am aware, the virus theory is attributed to 28 Days/Weeks Later and I Am Legend. The remake of DOTD has a vaguely religious 'end of days' overtone evidenced through lines like 'when there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth'; the apocalyptic aerial shot when yer wan's driving down the road and the use of 'When the Man Comes Around' in the title credits.

I can't remember the cause in the original DOTD - was it pollution? I know it was a satire on Nixon's 'silent majority'.

I haven't seen any other zombie films recently to comment on those...

*nerds right back at ya*

oOH I want to be one of these:

In philosophy of mind, zombies are hypothetical persons who lack full consciousness but have the biology or behavior of a normal human being; thought experiments involving them are often used as arguments against the identity of the mind and the brain. The term was coined by philosopher of mind David Chalmers. They are referred to as philosophical zombies or "p-zombies". [6]

You do have a rather blank stare. And you shuffle about. And smell.

nuurrrrrr *stares into space*

(is that not just my filthy glasses though?)

Actually I was really stinky this morning for some reason. I had to run off at coffee break and attack my pits with surgical cleaning fluid and speshul tissues.

EH? Of course zombies have INTENTIONS, they want BRAINS! The fresh ones can just go after them quicker!

YOUR book said no they don't

the branes thing is instinctive, in the same way as a jellyfish operates.
SEE?

oh the time loop thing completely wrecks my head, i try not to think about it too much!

As for zombies, I have no problem with freshly turned ones running, they'd still be all nice and loose and fresh ;p
haven't actually seen 28 days later yet, as everyone who has has been a bit freaked and I don't want to watch it on my own!

He's alive in the future up to the point where he time travelled. Then he just doesn't come back to the time he came from.
