Exciting Adventures In London. With cider

So, on a bit of a whim and a last minute cheap flight deal, I went to London on thursday to see
ghost_cre, along with
thipe,
gnillot,
mirrorshard and others who may well have ljs but I'm not sure - hagi, yalph etc.
Cider was had. Also food. More of teh former and possibly not enough of the latter. Refined conversation was had, including Shakespeare, fine singing and the nature of orgies/orgettes (and whether these should include corgettes). And many more things I'm sure, but cider gets in the way there.
Then back to hotel, where in possibly a bit of error, a bottle of wine was ordered, to watch Die Hard 4 with
thipe. The ensuing condemantion of the film, accompanied by rational and reasoned discussion of the complications of life, along with cultural, educatative discourse from a japanese phrase book (the phrase book of GREAT WRONG), including haiku, did not for some reason, endear us to our hotel neighbours who complained. Three times. Tho this did at least prevent us from asking the Nice Man for yet more wine. So probably an element of win there. Especially considering the size of hangovers the next day...
Friday dawned mostly ignored, til about lunchtime. Then headed to Borough Market for great food and cider sampling goodness. Also pancakes. And very tasty apple juice. OM NOM NOM. Then, in a fit of ambition, decided to walk from the market (at London Bridge) to the Tower of London, instead of getting tube. A very cultural, if slow, walk along the river ensued, with lots of architecture. And a great big battleship.
Made it all the way to the tower, but took so long getting there it was closing ;p So the only obvious alternative was to go the pub and wait for
gnillot. And have MOAR cider, to go with yet more refined conversation and huge plates of food.
As a note for the future tho, I do love my cider, but to DRINK, not WEAR *eyes Gnillot*
Eventually the pub shut and it was time to head back to the hotel, somewhat damp and smelling of (mostly) apples. Once there the joys of free wireless were discovered, leading to much harry enfield. Also more eduction from teh japanese phrasebook, including Useful things like 'Bite down on this', 'Come back, I haven't finished', 'Why did i let you near me?', 'I didn't realise what I was doing was wrong' and the very vital 'It helps to have a sense of humour!'. Oh and also learnt that Gok Kwan is NOT japanese for Sorry :p
Saturday began with shuffling round the shops at paddington, waiting nearly AN HOUR for the stupid woman to bring a croissant (because she seemed to think i was lying when I said I ordered it), book buying and drinking coke til it was time to go. Then Joye, heathrow. Discovered the flaw in the plan of travelling with aerlingus, notably, their gate is about as far away from the rest of heathrow as it is possible to be.
However eventually got there and got on plane and was greatly amused by the best book about Pirates ever. Which I will pimp further when I have it by me to remember the name ;p
Then home. and SLEEEEP LOVELY SLEEEP. Followed by popcorn and watching Chronicles of Riddick. Then MOAR SLEEP.
Altogether, a successful weekend I think ;)
