Writing a novel it seems. Or at least attempting too.
I've got a start and a very vague idea, but I have no notion where its going or how to get it moving along.
I guess I'll just keep typing and see what comes out.

The weekend was good, lots of sleeping with a great fancy dress party in the middle. Well maybe not great, but it was fun, lots of drink and silly behaviour and falling over. Will get the pictures sorted out sometime later.

So, are any of the rest of you doing the nanowrimo thing planning to let people actually read what you write? I'm unsure about this. As long as only I read it, I can pretend its vaguely good and keep going. I have a feeling if someone else looks at it and doesn't like it, I'll just give up.

Maybe ones its in full swing, I'll feel better about it. I still can't believe I'm actually attempting this!

I don't know. I am happy with the idea that what I write will, at best, be a first draft of a novel and probably rubbish. If I ever want to do anything with whatever I produce, I imagine I'll be re-writing it repeatedly. Editing is for another month, my only task in November is to write 50k words.

That said, I'm not sure! I will if you will, I guess. Maybe in a new journal, so it doesn't spam people who read mine that don't want to read my crappy writing, but those interested can offer encouragement. Whaddaya think?

Yeah, I was thinking of maybe starting a new journal and posting exerpts or something.
I'm just worried showing people will make me want to stop and go back to change things, rather than just ploughing ahead with the writing!

I'm already wondering if the way I've started isnt going to make it very difficult to go on (1st person and present tense)

You can always change halfway through if it doesn't work out - someone was giving tips about this kind of thing on the forums... basically saying "Just make a note and keep writing - tell yourself that any fixing that has to be done has already been done - going back and doing the fixing is a job for December".

I'm in several minds as to what voice is actually telling the story. I guess I'll decide when I start writing later then :)

heh good point, I guess I can always switch and worry about explaining it later :)
I'm mostly doing this just to see if I can write that much. I think it said somewhere else on the site 'its about quantity, not quality'

Well, we could create a comm to spam with novel fragments...

In fact, if you'd like, I'll go make that.

I'm enough of a flaming egotist that I'm prepared to show folks all sorts of half-finished crap of mine.
