So! 3rd visit! I have managed to keep up the exercises she gave me on monday, despite the week turning a bit hectic and also been wearing the heel raise.
She was v. pleased with my Improved Walking and said it probably would be painful til I got used to making the foot/ankle work more again, but to Keep At It.
Heel raise is easier to wear than the orthotic thingy from the podiatrist and doesn't cause any of the associated achy backness etc so that's good. Still achy on the foot, but will try it for a bit longer and see.
In general she was really pleased with the amount of movement in the ankle (yay!) then did lots more 'mobilisation' - ie bending and wiggling it in various directions. None of which was anywhere near as painful as whatever she did the first week!
Then i got to go on The Machines! Whee! A cross trainer type thingy first, which was hard to get started but quite good fun one it was going (for all of the 10 mins or so i was on it. If that ;p). Followed by one of those slidy platform things you always see advertised on qvc, to push self up and down with feet, which also went quite well - tho the whole once leg being longer than the other caused initial confusion.
So, it was All Good. No mention of surgery this week! Just have to keep up the exercises and keep it moving as much as possible; back again after teh holiday.
Yay holiday next week! In fact in a few days.
Tho, the whole thing has been cast into some doubt by the Mother, obviously feeling we haven't had enough drama in our lives lately, contracting a nasty stomach bug and managing at the same to to send her blood pressure sky rocketing (I never knew it *could* go over 200. You live and learn).
However she seemed a bit better when I left this morning, tho still v. weak. But determined to be going on holiday anyway. We shall see how it goes over the weekend. Needless to say have done no holiday shopping/packing/money changing etc. Monday could be a busy day.
Mostly now we're hoping she hasn't passed it to the rest of us...

Date: 2008-06-06 01:11 pm (UTC)Apart from it being a hospital of LOONS
they go to her - it should be in a sling the first few days - but we don't have any
How does a hospital have no slings???
then - oh you need the stitches out in 2 weeks, but we can't fit you in, so be a love and see if your gp surgery can take them out :p
She is in pain, but seems ok having had a chat :)
