Iris Update

Which amounts to... very little. No mention of it at all on any of the news bulletains I watched last night, nor have most of the papers/new websites picked up on it.
There's a very brief spot on the bbc which basically amounts to -
Iris - I never said that!
Hansard - Um, you so did. We recorded it. look, right Here! (about 2/3rds of the way down).
Where she randomly brings up homosexuality in a debate about how to deal with convicted sex offenders and in the next sentance trawls in the Soham killings and Victoria Climbe who, if I recall, was tortured for weeks and eventually murdered by hetrosexual relatives claiming to be Christians.

According to the Tele, which seems to be the only place its been picked up (apart from the Stephen Nolan show, but we Won't Go There) complaints have been sent in to parliament and the assembly here but, they can do Fuck All -

Which doesn't leave too many options open to get anything actually done. I'm not how much good writing to her would achieve (possibly none) and I'm pretty sure writing to her party wouldn't make a blind bit of difference either.

Well the party does (try to) position itself as for Equality and Opportunity For All (here). At least until Iris opens her windtrap. Writing might not do much, but it probably wouldn't hurt.

Writing to her, on the other hand, may get you mailshotted by shrinks for being a sympathiser of Those People. Although I'd be interested to see how she responds to 'let (s)he who is without sin cast the first stone'. Possibly with photos of her in a nice polycotton jumper.

My own MP is, sadly, one of her lot and I think I *might* have more chance of a response if I write directly to him, as my MP and ask what the official views are etc, rather than just write to the party. From various comments i've seen elsewhere, people who've tried that simply got no response.

The beeb link is shockingly light on ACTUAL FACT, or indeed content; they've kept it well buried too. The link from the local paper (belfast telegraph) seems to be the only place to get any actual detail on it

Well as you know, like certain fundamental particles the typical Arse Piglet has a specific "spin" (or "flavour"), that being either "up", "down", "charm", "strangeness", "top", "bottom", or "sweet sweet bacon". If Arse Piglets can be arranged according to their specific spin and weight - then further grouped by height - they will spontaneously whistle the "Match of the Day" theme.

Other than that, the use of a VLAPA is limited to acts both unusual and illegal.
