A walk in the park (picspam!)
Mar. 1st, 2009 04:07 pmI have been having a very lazy weekend, which is great. But today I decided I should probably do something away from the sofa and decided to go for a walk.
It was a lovely sunny day, so I donned my rain coat and, since it's been a while since I've taken photos outside the pub/family stuff, grabbed the camera
Dixon park is fairly close by and very pretty -

It has lots of hills too, which is good cos mostly these days I walk round the city centre which is all flat
It is not quite there spring yet

The park is most famous for it's international rose festival & trials, they're just planting the roses for this year

Must go back and take a pics when the roses are out, it's stunning.
At the back of the park, past the rose gardens are lots of hills and foresty bits, perfect for dog walking. Also horse riding, tho we're not supposed to ;p
This made me laugh. poor lady ;p

Then this guy came bounding round a corner. so cute! and so HUGE.

I ambled round the edges of the park, following paths at random, then this caught my eye...

Naturally I had to check it out from the front too!

A little further on was a wall with plaques to the Dixon family pets, which was very sweet

Walking on, I noticed the sky was a bit less blue...

I wasn't entirely sure where I was at this point, then I came round a corner and there was the House (now used for conferences and concerts and... stuff). The sun was shining *on* it, but above, things were looking ominous

Sure enough 2 minutes later it was pouring with rain. Tho also still sunny...

Then the hail stones started, so instead of going to explore the Japanese garden, I headed for the car and home. When I got in, the view from the front door looked like this (the 'sunny' part of the street name showning was unintentional, but amuses me ;p)

Lovely walk, and according to my trusty pedometer, I did about a mile and a half, almost all on hills, so now I feel quite accomplished. So I am going to make pancakes!
How's your weekend going?
