So.

Hey, Norn Iron? The 80s called. They'd like their mindless violence and futile slaughter BACK please.

What the fuck? What was the POINT of all that? Even in their sick, twisted minds, what the hell could they possibly hope to *gain* by trying to drag us all back to violence? NOBODY wants that. We have MOVED ON. Or thought we had. Fuck.

[identity profile] thesme-01.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
They want to gain power, by any means possible, because they are evil twisted people damaged beyond saving who can only survive in an atmosphere of hatred and chaos that they control.

I reckon.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_unhurt_/ 2009-03-09 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
but they aren't ging to gain power! so it's even more utterly pointless than the pointlessness of common-or-garden poibntless slaghter!

[identity profile] thesme-01.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
yeah but their definition of power may be different to ours AND they're deluded at the same time.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_unhurt_/ 2009-03-09 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
true true truth.

of course, i am sure if they manage to get the assembly suspended AGAIn - it will be totally worth DEAD PEOPLE. ffs.

(have they not noticed that suspension can be achieved by, like, changes in the weather? the sun coming up? etc?)

[identity profile] caramel-betty.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
Is the suspension from the sun coming up due to an objection to it being a FIERY ORANGE Protestant sun?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_unhurt_/ 2009-03-09 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
absolutely!

or it's solid stellar evidence that god is an prod. one of the two.

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
plus it's not like the assembly actually DOES anything except look like a bunch of ignorant, incompetent, bigotted useless fucking assholes anyway.

Have they missed the whole THE ECONOMY IS FUCKED part where *some* sort of government is actually fairly necessary??
Tho, I'm guessing our latest bunch of murderous fuckwits haven't exactly been productive members of society up til now anyway...

[identity profile] caramel-betty.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps they're trying to attract inward investment from, erm, arms manufacturers?

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure even Noraid would be stupid enough to finance this. tho, they never were the brightest, so god knows.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_unhurt_/ 2009-03-09 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
Tho, I'm guessing our latest bunch of murderous fuckwits haven't exactly been productive members of society up til now anyway...

ha, yes - i doubt they have any personal investment in a functioning society. they just want to be the kings of their own little (violent, corrupt) fiefdom i suspect.

[identity profile] thesme-01.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
The other, retired bunch of murderous fuckwits have moved to Crumlin, evidently. I don't know whether you could call that productive or diversifying....

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
Moving into new and more lucrative markets? I dunno. Why aren't they all DEAD yet?

[identity profile] repton-infinity.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It occurs to me that, if the economy were in good shape, it may not have happened. It's hard to be angry at the hated oppressors when everyone's making lots of money and life is looking pretty good.

e.g. see increasing civil unrest in China..

[identity profile] sleetersoulfire.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
I can't get over some of the comments from people in the US on the BBC's Have Your Say page. I actually thought that 9/11 had shown the fucking morons of the 'the IRA are a valid freedom fighter movement' mentality how fucking wrong they were.

Sigh, and big hugs. :(

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
...

I... WHAT. Ok. I think for what remains of my faith in humanity (not to mention stress levels) I should avoid that place like the plague.
It's not even the fucking ira (heh. the F.I.R.A) it's a pile of left over fuckwits who can't get it into their heads that IT IS OVER.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_unhurt_/ 2009-03-09 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
FWIW, 99% of all commenters on have your say, regardless of their political stripe, are rampaging and ignorant arseholes. if i look i always regret it - and not least because of the need to shout "GET OFF MY SIDE YOU ARE MAKING US LOOK BAD!" at the screen. :/

[identity profile] thipe.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a dirty pleasure... on the one hand you go WHAT HOW CAN YOU THINK LIKE THAT WHY HOW ARGH

on the other some of them are amusingly arse-headed, and have provided endless amusement through http://ifyoulikeitsomuchwhydontyougolivethere.com/

I love Hacksaw Jim Duggan's comment right at the bottom there. His pub anecdote had me in fits of laughter. ;)

There is a reason why I have banned myself from reading Have Your Say.

[identity profile] thesme-01.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Helo.

I now wish to design and star in a drama series on ITV called Snatch Watch.

I wish to wear an Urgent Uniform in this role and do Urgent Things to Snatches.

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] jin-shei.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
In my head, it is a bad place now.

Tell you what though, you're in luck... just had some new stock in, practically brand new, one careful lady owner, only used it on the way to church on sundays, nice little runner... how about it?

[identity profile] sleetersoulfire.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
MY BRNES! THE BLEECH! IT DOES NOTHING!

Out of curiosity, how much popular support was there for the IRA back in the "old days"?

The RIRA claimed responsibility -- does that mean they have a known spokesman? If so, can the police arrest him?

[identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Back in the old days, there was quite a lot of support for the IRA, in certain areas at least, and similar support for the loyalist groups in their areas.

These days, very little.

They phoned a newspaper and probably (as in the olden days) used a codeword to prove it was them. It really says something about this place that we even have fucking systems set up to allow them to claim their own murders.
