Still at home feeling sneezy and a bit bleh, tho planning to head to work soon. For I am very dedicated you know. Plus there are big drinks planned after work for friends getting married next week (OMG!) and I can hardly show up for that if i've been at home ill all day, can I ?
Gotta get the priorties right...

To pass the time while sipping lempsip this morning, I decide to hoke out photos from teh 80s to answer queries on just how big my hair was back then ;p Tho, naturally being a teenager, there aren't that many, since obviously i hated photos...

This is TAMED hair for school formal (like American prom, tho not held in school gym hall. Did UK folk have these?). Note matching purple eyeshadow... Taken in .... 1988. HOW IS THAT SO LONG AGO OMG?

Also found one wearing the chainmail jewellery I dug out for the 80s hen night. From my 18th birthday. So young. SO VERY YOUNG.

I had a group of my BESTEST FRIENDS over for a Sleepover and we watched... dirty dancing I think and, after parents had gone to bed, Rocky Horror! So very Daring. We even had a couple of glasses of wine each! Then, it snowed in the middle of night, and we all ran out side and had a snowball fight and made a snowman and when we got back in I fell down the stairs ;p Good times ;)

I still don't quite know how all that manages to be 20 years ago. Where did it GO? Mostly cider, probably ;p

ETA SO Flist what did YOU look like in the 80s? I feel you should share, now that I have!

Awwwwww! Lovely shiney Hellison in lovely shiney dress! Your hair is gorgeous. Exactly how I wanted mine to be but it never behaves!

Trust me, it very very rarely looked that well. Mostly it was this amorphous mass with a mind of its own that tangled its way around my head ;p

No photos were ever taken of me in the eighties. None. nope.

I too wanted hair exactly like that. I had sekrit ambition to be Star from the Lost Boys, who had your hairstyle, but it was sadly not to be...

I don't have any electronic versions of 80s pics to hand, only the hard copies m'fraid, which is a shame, cos my dress sense was appalling!

I have some truly awful mid-80s unscanned ones with terrible clothes and horrendous short hair...

I had GOLDEN CURLES for I was an angelic child of the 80s. Born slightly after chernoble. I don't believe this is related.

They'd have had to been celebrating it 9 months before...

well. there was a lift going. and those staying included dph and bbw. plus i still have a manky cold, so QI, popcorn and hot whiskey seemed quite tempting

I still have it somewhere, I will show you some day! Sadly not *on* me as there is no mission it would fit me now. It would probably fit you, if you ever needed a shiny purple curtainy dress ;p

aw, is dph being annoying? he seemed so calm (in dph terms) of late. though "of late" was in march, so...

middle b stands for "bloody" yes? or is it "bastarding"?

*is tempted by dress idea*

Not annoying at all really, he is much calmer lately. But overheard indepth discussion of Trowelling Techniques Smallsarah was subjected to and could not face it...

Either, depending on circumstances...

I could bring it along on friday, if you're still stuck for an outfit?

Lookit that baby Hellison!

I have a team photo from the early 90s where my hair is shockingly similar. Sometime after 12 yrs old, my head kind of exploded and refused to calm down until I was in college.

heh, i sadly got the 'cute ringlets' cut off when I was 11 then there were the WILDERNESS years of shortness, then when I grew it back I think in revenge it went out as much as it went down and I had no control over it at all ;p

Heh. Well I have to admit that these pictures are both from 88/89. There is NO MISSION of anyone seeing the mid 80s, short-haired (THE HORRENDOUS SHORT HAIR), terrible-clothed shots ;p Not that there are any of those existing at all anywhere ever. At all.

But a verbal description might suffice?

1980s

Which, Sir, I believe you well understood, and are merely suffering from a surfeit of pedantry!

OTOH, I hope that by the time I reach my 80s I won't give a flying fuck what I look like in photos and instead be glad i'm still in them at all ;p

Date: 2009-09-04 11:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] failing-angel.livejournal.com
I think you'll find that that wasn't pedantry, merely a deliberate misleading.
(Now that was pedantic)

Still, I'd rather have a surfeit of pedantry, than lampreys.

I find myself in two minds about photographs of me through the ages (as it were) part of me regrets there not being them, but this way I don't see awful images of me.
What I regret is that I don't have photos of friends from days gone by.

Well yes, that would obviously be a Bad Thing ;p

What I find odd is that I was so much more photo shy when the pictures above were taken than now, when I looked SO much better. Which is also why i presume that by 80 i'll be leaping in front of cameras ;p

I have, thankfully, may pictures of friends from Back Then, but that may be a more of a girl thing, because on any Occasion, someone always had a camera - tho also because often that someone was me, because if i was taking them, I didn't have to be in them.

There's a large gap in my photos, mainly because they were film, and there was the cost and faff of developing them, and then replacing the film, etc, etc.
Now I have a digital camera, things are much easier.

For most of the 80s I wasnt even a glint in my fathers eye, then I was a blobby thing in a belly, and then for only a year and a month of the 80s I was very small, blue eyed and very bald.
