more monday woes!

hellisonGnah, just got a call from my friend Christine, who was looking after Ziggy for me today (in return for me looking after her horse on sat.), so I could go have dinner with some friends and see their new place tonight. But she came off and got stood on
She decided to go on a hack - she's not very confident about hacking out, but as Ziggy is usually very good, she thought she'd be ok riding her up to the tackshop she works in to pick up some stuff. She told me yesterday what she was planning and as it's mostly quiet back roads I figured there'd be no problem, I've thought about doing it myself a few times.
But, she met dogs. Now cars, lorries, tractors, skips, old women in orange coats, even those plastic barriers phone/electricity people put up round holes (she thinks they're jumps), nothing bothers her. I once encountered a gang of about 15 kids who surrounded us and thought it would be funny to scream and yell and try and spook her, and she didnt even flinch.
Dogs however, she hates. She's a bloody hunter and she hates dogs. The most she's ever done with me tho is jump sideways and speed up a bit. Unfortunately today she decided to buck til Christine fell off then trampled on her foot before legging it. Luckily she stopped just up the road at some other horses so Christine caught her ok. She made it to her work where she's now waiting for the yard owner to come pick them both up, take the horse home and her to casualty to see if her foot is broken.
I feel terrible, I probably never should have agreed to her taking Ziggy out, but I hack her out alone all the time and I've never had a problem. I also didn't think she was going to go alone. The only thing I can think of is that when she spooked, Christine panicked and they both freaked out.
So now I have two horses to do tonight, and probably for the rest of the week, instead of having a night off. Although it could have been much MUCH worse. In fact it doesn't bear thinking about how much worse it could have been.

malvino I got bored and trawled through the various local news/paper sites and I couldn't find a single happy headline for you. We're not big on 'kitten rescued from tree' and so on it seems.
