While discussing The Weekend with people, as you do of a Monday morning, I have met with reactions that have rather surprised me.

On explaining that I had a friend's fiance to stay while he sorted stuff out, various people have done a quick double take, said 'ooer' with added leering, or 'what, alone?' or similar. My mother in particular seemed very shocked that I could have an Unattended Man in the house OVERNIGHT and that his gf (or owner?) could allow this.

I am not sure if this signals a lack of trust in

A. Men - don't let them out of your sight!
B. Single Women in general - obviously devious harridans out to sink their claws in any man they can get hold of
or
C. Me in particular - thanks for the vote of confidence in my character there Mum

Not everyone, I should add, has reacted this way. There are, thankfully, some who found nothing remarkable about it at all.

But enough people have reacted oddly (in my view) to make me wonder.
Is it really so inconcievable that people can actually be trustworthy?
It is very odd. I feel a bit sorry for them tho, if that really is how they think of people.

It never occured to me that you *wouldn't* trust me with him. or him with me :p Thats why those reactions came as such a shock I think.
