Apr. 13th, 2005 11:16 amInstead I get to vote for parties who don't even really bother having polices because they know the vast majority of people will vote along the Tribal Lines regardless.
And of course because most of the people who would actually put some thought into voting won't bother because 'whats the point, the shinners/huns will get in here anyway, they always do'. As spectacularly displayed in our last farce of an election.

Who should I vote for?
| Labour -15 | |
| Conservative -29 | |
You should vote: Liberal Democrat
The LibDems take a strong stand against tax cuts and a strong one in favour of public services: they would make long-term residential care for the elderly free across the UK, and scrap university tuition fees. They are in favour of a ban on smoking in public places, but would relax laws on cannabis. They propose to change vehicle taxation to be based on usage rather than ownership.
Take the test at Who Should You Vote For
Its kind of interesting that of the few results of this test seen so far, the Lib Dems seem to come out top.
edit! I decide to check who was actually running in my area. What a choice...

Mind you provided that oily turncoat oik Donaldson doesn't get back in, I could live with the UUP. Tho looking at the results I probably don't have much of a choice :p

Date: 2005-04-13 03:39 am (UTC)I might see if any of them run in my area, tho they're a bit pointless :p So far not many candidates have declared.
Of course the whole thing is kinda pointless since at some point the Assembly will crank itself up again for another few months, slap water charges on us and disintegrate again.

Date: 2005-04-13 04:20 am (UTC)The SDLP have put me off almost instantly by having a 'women's charter' on their front page, because of course things like childcare are seperate 'lady issues' and don't affect men and thus REAL policies at all.
