Tales from the weekend

hellisonActually, there's not a lot to tell.
Went to the co-workers wedding thing on fri evening, which wasn't too bad, Boss On The Sick showed up and gushed at us all in her usual manner then persisted in talking about work all night, as did most of the others. Which was rather dull...
Sat, had a wonderful lie in and a not so wonderful hangover, decided on spur of the moment to take a run to Dublin to visit Ruth in her new house (since I missed the moving day). Dropped in at a party I'd forgotten I was invited to in Drogheda on the way to say hi and catch up with Grik. Was very tempted to stay by the vast amounts of alcohol on offer (a table full of tequila. and Mohitos with freshly picked mint...) but made my escape since a. I really wanted to see Ruth and b. I only really knew about 3 people there, all of whom were well on their way to being out of it on a varied selection of cocktails and drugs.
Called in to see Trish and Manix and deposit Trish's strange alcopop things she can't buy down there and meet the new dog, who promtly deposited a cup of tea all round me. Pets are great ;p
Finally made it to Ruth by about 10 and we promptly got stuck into a very nice bottle of cava, followed by wine accompanied by much ranting about men (mostly specific men rather than just Men in general) and protestations of undying friendship. Ruth is looking and obviously feeling so much better since she got her own place, it was wonderful to see.
She's still very upset about how things went, but she's getting there.
Sunday morning she was very hungover and I wasn't, so I took the baby while she lay in. Tho not strictly speaking a baby anymore - a toddler with a very definite idea of what she wants! We had great fun playing in the sand pit, reading books and feeding each other rice krispies. She was fascinated by my phone with pictures on, especially when I took one of her, tho the cat pics were an even bigger hit.
After a couple of hours she decided that was quite enough quality godmother time and it was time Ruth was up too. Luckily, she was feeling much better and we lay on her bed getting dived bombed by a manic baby for a while, before finally mustering the energy to get dressed and head off to the cafe for 'breakfast' (at noon).
After breakfast, Eug came to pick up Coralie, looking very much the worse for wear, having gone to the party in Drogheda and woken up in the green house on very hot morning, which made me very glad I hadn't stayed.
Ruth went off for her leg waxing while I lay about enjoying the sun. Much more laying about, including some light dozing, was done when Ruth came back, with a brief wander to the shop for junk food and ice lollies.
Eugene brought Coralie back at about 5 and we were debating whether or not it was too late to go swimming, when Trish and Manix called to see if we wanted to join them in the pub. Ruth decided to pop in and say hi en route to the pool, while I went for the have a few cokes before driving home option.
Tho the drive home was so hot and sticky I would probably have been much better if I'd swum first.
Not a bad weekend tho, managed to catch up with everyone (even if it was briefly in some cases) and have a great time with Ruth and Coralie. And it was even sunny!
Now if I could just wake up some, I might be able to do some work...
