Castles, beaches and bridges, oh my!

hellisonWe have been busy with the sightseeing!
Well not that busy ;p Monday we lazed about recovering from the wedding, then went into the city centre to do the bus tour thing.
It was surprisingly interesting - they didn't just go round the New Shiny Things and say 'look, isn't it GRATE now?', they went (v. briefly) into the history of the troubles and took a trip round some of the murals and worst trouble spots.
After that we bought lots of alkyhol and junk food and spend the evening working our way thro it with Space Ghost and MST3K and other assorted Humourous tv.
Tuesday there was yet more lying in and finishing off of Harry Potter (my verdit? underwhelmed), then when we finally got ourselves sorted to leave the house, we drove down to Navan. Due to being slack, we got there just as the visitors centre thingy closed, but we went up to the fort anyway and admired it and the view - but not the wind, which was Strong. We called in on a friend of mine on the way home for tea and jaffa cakes - which the weirdo australians do not seem to like. Damn Forners!
Then we went to see War of the Worlds and once more, I am underwhelmed. Not nearly as good as Batman or any of the other films I've seen this summer - not even a particuarly good disaster movie. Very Meh.
Yesterday we actually managed to get up early and set off on the epic Coast Drive, taking in Carrickfergus Castle, much scenic coastalness, including the exciting twisty coast road, the Giant's Causeway and of course Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Which is much more wobbly than I remembered. Tho it wasn't nearly as windy last time I went over it.
Still it was all very exciting an we took lots of photos of Scenery which will no doubt not look nearly as good as the actual Thing (why is that anyway?).
Then we came home and got drunk again, hurrah!
Today we are off into town again so Julie can take pictures of murals, John can have steak for lunch and we can do some shopping. Tomorrow we head South!
The week seems to have gone very quickly.
