Since we are, apparently, going thro it all AGAIN.
I have never in my life felt so apathetic about the whole process and even voting (normally I am quite militant on the Everyone Should Vote front)... it just all seems so pointless, it's just another break for shouting, and then it'll all start going round in the same old tired circle again.

Anyway. To chose from I have this lot

4 DUP candidates (Paisley's lot) incl. that malodourous, slimy toe-rag of a turn-coat, Donaldson *shudders* who will alas almost certainly get in. Also Mr. Poots tho, who I dealt with thro work some time ago and seemed a decent enough chap.

3 Ulster Unionists - is there much point to this lot any more? Or can they claw something back from the divisions now in the DUP?

And then 1 each from SF (bleh), Alliance (thankfully NOT the homophobic and bigotted guy from last time), Green party (woo!), Conservative party (why? WHY?), Workers party (heh), Bob McCartney (who may get a vote just for pure comedy value) and the SDLP - who are fielding the only woman in a field of... 14.
Looking through the lists for other areas, quite a lot are, as [livejournal.com profile] _unhurt_ points out, made up *entirely* of middle-aged white men. Apparently there are even less women standing now than last time.

Tho given what a farce our 'political structure' is these days, why would anyone other than those already firmly mired in it WANT to bother getting involved anyway?

Hmm. I know PR voting is supposed to go from first preference down, but this time round I may well be working from last preference up, since none of them exactly stand out.
The only trouble there is working out who comes last - Donaldson or Butler...
