The Sofa Gender Realignment Man did finally show up on Friday and, in a quick and seemingly painless procedure, Sofa Part A was changed from male to female and soon firmly wedded to Sofa Part B (who remains male), with the aid of steel pins. It was a touching and somewhat bittersweet moment, but they seem happy this way. And there's less chance of losing the remote down the crack, so it's all good really ;)

[livejournal.com profile] layonee requested photos, then expanded this to a photo tour of the house and since it is her birthday tomorrow (and the place is kinda tidy for once ;p) here it is.

The lower half anyway, haven't cleared upstairs yet :p

To start, here is a one my sister very kindly took of me modelling the Leather Seating System

The front door!

which I never actually use (lawks), so we go round the side, past the Bin Collection and the old suite (must phone the council)

and in through the back door

to the kitchen, which is, by usual standards, actually quite tidy.

And then, we have THE SOFAS. Here we see parts A & B of the 'seating system' in their happily wedded hetrosexual bliss. The coffee table under the window was made by my dad.

The other sofa (I have 2! I am so modern) and teh computer, which is where I am most of the time ;)

The Fireplace That Takes Up the Entire Other Half of the Fucking Room. The actual grate bit is TINY so it's completely useless really. Except as a place to gather clutter, which I excel at ;) The bookcase in the corner was also made by Dad, after I asked him if he could 'stick a couple of shelves up' there.

He made it to go with this dresser, also made by him, which I had coveted for years and finally got when I moved in here.

And thats the living room! This is the view from the front door, now the roses are starting to bloom ;) Tho half them got blown away in nasty winds during the week.

Then, very dull staircase. Upstairs will follow in a seperate installment once I've actually cleared it up some ;p

And there you go. For now ;p As always click for larger versions!

Hmm. Also realised while writing this that it would have been Dad's birthday today.

My dad made the desk and shelves I have in my current flat. And no end of similar furniture at home. I dread the thought that I might one day be a dad 'cause I don't know how to do any of that stuff :-/

(and it is so much better than bought stuff because it is plain and unvarnished, just like me)

One of the reasons I love the dresser so much is that the doors aren't *quite* right and there's a knack to shutting them, which just makes it more... unique and not Standard Shop Bought.

I am clueless about the Mysteries of Woodwork and so on too, tho I have managed to put up shelves myself now.
