Yay for bank holiday weekends. And even better, yay for holidays meaning I only have 2 days at work this week, then day to pack and get spray painted, then WEEKEND IN SORENTO. HURRAH!

The weekend just passed tho went very well. A great mix of productivity and lazing and sleeping.
Things done included shopping (for VITAL holiday items like... shoes), cutting grass, epic Tackling Of the Bedroom which means I now have 2 huge bags worth of clothes for charity, rediscovered some things I forgot I had and DRAWER SPACE. Also, bedroom floor is now visible! Tho as the carpet is hideous this is not necessarily a good thing ;p

Yesterday was spent delivering Mother to Aunts, so they could head off on their Italian Adventure this morning, via various cousins' houses, which mostly involved drinking tea and feeding babies.
Finally saw the Teeny Twins - cousin Ciara's babies who were premature and SO TINY - 3lb each I think; now 4 months old and still only 10lbs each. So Cute! and surprisingly ginger and not AT ALL looking like Podge and Rodge. much... . But Cute!
Also saw cousin Elaine's baby, who is a bit younger than the Teeny Twins but about the size of the 2 of them together and also incredibly cute. Other sights of note included Aunt's New Kitchen, various cousins coming to see Aunt's New Kitchen; another cousin's house (hadn't been in before) and, of most interest to me, cousin Ciara's horses. And various aunts, uncles and sundry relations.
Most of the talk (when not revolving round babies, kitchens and horses) was of course about the Wedding in Sorento, mostly concerned with Who is wearing What. Wedding Outfits are big news in our family, particularly among the Aunts who go to great lengths to outdo and especially out-hat each other; they have great fun being cryptic about what they're wearing while trying to find out what everyone *else* has picked.
Plus they finally seemed to have stopped saying "You'll be next!" to me now, while thankfully not going to the extreme of the aunt on Dad's side who pronounced "Of course, you'll never marry now." a few years ago. So yay for that too!

Right, given I'm only here for 2 days this week, I should do some work!

PS on previous post, will reply to comments there later today. I wanted to wait to til the Knee-Jerk Fury reactions had died down a little so I could comment rationally!

Um... it's great stuff if you have some masonry that needs painted?

no nooo Mr Thesme won't see it here! You have to go to my post and explain why MASONRY PAINT is so important and why he needs MASONRY PAINT in his life!

it's to cheer him up - for some reason the concept of masonry paint is making him laugh uncontrollably

I am getting alarmingly broody. It wasn't so much of a problem when I hadn't made an actual egg. I feel like a mother hen.

Luckily even incredibly cute babies (like cousin e's little girl - all big eyes and smiles) dont' make be broody. And any even vague thoughts were helpfully banished by the Teeny Twins both staring to scream in unison ;p

I love babies, but Other People's ;p

I still say you should have brought me as your date to stop such questions. Purely for your benefit you understand and not because I long to be in Italy at all

That would, however, give rise to a whole NEW set of questions. And no small degree of horror from some quarters. Which might make it worth doing...

But alas another thing they no longer do is send me invites which include a date/guest ;p

Oh the joy of relatives poking you about marriage and children. My own dear mother has with started this awful habit of dropping "hints". Well, more like well-meaning comments like "Have you lost weight yet? You know it's easier to get pregnant if you lose weight".

Gah! What if I don't want babies yet? Just because all her friends are grandparents and every single cousin on my dad's side are married with children galore, doesn't mean _I_ want that particulr fate at this moment in time. /rant

My mother's favourite is 'Does that not put you in the mood for one?' every time I go near a baby. To which my usual reply is 'dear god no, it puts me right off, I can give this one back'.
Unless i've had a drink or two, in which case I tend to ask how she thinks I would GET a baby if I did want one, what with the lack of man and all ;p

The words 'should i just get pissed and go hang out round the docks?' *may* have been employed on occasion ;p

No. This is your future child you're talking about. You can't just drunkenly choose someone. You need to go down to the docks with a clipboard and do a survey first.
Once you have the man chosen, you may then get drunk if you wish.

Ahh, that's a MUCH better way of doing it! When I do get round to being broody, the first thing I shall do is purchase a clipboard (possibly the 2nd will be to voluteer to look after the teeny twins :p)

What does your body fat have to do with the ease of getting pregnant?

Or is that a cruel, 'guys don't like fat chicks' statement? I'm not supporting that statement btw, so don't get offended, I'm just searching for clarification.

I think it's meant to be a bit easier. Tho coming from *my* mother it would also have the underlying 'you'd get a boyfriend if you thinner'. Which is nice.

Body fat does have something to do with getting pregnant. For instance, too little and you don't get ovulation => impossible to get pregnant. I am fairly sure that too much lower the chance of prgnancy but I'm too far away from my biology classes to remember the exact mechanism.

She most certainly doesn't mean anything about fat girls not being able to get a bf as the whole issue is tied in with me being with current bf for over 3 years and it is (according to my mum) time we got "down to business" as it were.

*sigh*
