HAHAH [livejournal.com profile] _unhurt_ is reading Twilight. I am FILLED with glee. And waiting to find out if i really can hear her scream from across town...

ION - not much really. Had blissful weekend of lazing and pottering about the house/garden. Got the new Pterry book 'Nation' in tescos and spent a v. happy Sunday afternoon reading that. Good Stuff ;)

Work is dull, which is better than manically stressful, so can't really complain there.

Lobsters are afoot (aclaw?).

One at a time, I will get you all ...

(I am receiving roughly one email update of WTF per page. It is totally making my afternoon. And she isn't anywhere NEAR the sparkling yet...)

The... sparkling... ?

And now my day is PERFECT.

In the world of Twilight, sun does not burn vampires or blind them or harm them in any way. But they have to avoid it because

wait for it

IT MAKES THEM SPARKLE. They GLITTER.

"Edward in the sunlight was shocking... His skin, white despite the faint flush from yesterday's hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface. He lay perfectly still in the grass, his shirt open over his sculpted, incandescent chest, his scintillating arms bare... A perfect statue, carved in some unknown stone, smooth like marble, glittering like crystal."

I am SO HAPPY now.

*Twitches violently*

Well, I’ve just finished “Hunter’s Moon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hunters-Moon-Gollancz-David-Devereux/dp/0575079851)”, which is a super-violent occult/SAS style thriller with lots of bondage, brainwashing, naughty occultness, a semi-sociopathic hero, naked ladies and ghosts hanging about in Kensal Green cemetery to “watch the goths shagging”. It wuz good.

ooh. that sounds GOOD.

Currently am reading 'the Magus' since, not long after you last pimped it, I actually discovered it in the 'books waiting to be read' pile. I don't even know how long it was in there (and have banned self from buying more books til I get through more of The Pile. Except 'Nation' obviously, cos that's pratchett).

The sparkling was what made me read Twilight, because I couldn't believe it was actually in there. They don't have fangs either.

The Magus rocks really, really hard, but you don’t realise how caught up in it you are until the end! I still need a 1st edition copy for the alternative ending…

Oh no. NONONO. There are (as far as I can tell) no whoopsies in Twilight. Everyone finds their OPPOSITE SEX twoo and FOREVAR love and has house breaking, pillow biting vampire sex with ONLY THEM forEVARS.

Except the werewolves tho, who seem to pick their TWOO WUV for ever when they are babies (the wuvs, not the werewolves), then just have to babysit a lot while they wait for them to grow up. Which is NOT CREEPY OR WRONG AT ALL OH NO.

But what about the sparkling?

Date: 2008-09-16 04:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hellison.livejournal.com
And GLITTERING! There are, as far as I can tell, no hotpants. But i've only read the first book ;p

I got to the sparkling. I gave in, sent it back to amazon.

I got mine in one of those 3 for 2 deals in Waterstones, so it was technically free ;p

Gave up?? but then you missed the whole... 5 pages of plot near the end. And the Vampire Baseball!
